A missed opportunity to terminate more services at Haymarket Light rail in my opinion.

I'm wondering if 25/10 will also flag changes to the CSELR side of things?

Will see the end of the last Metrobus routes, with the western portions of M10 and M50 replaced by route 440 and 502-504 services respectively and existing light rail and bus services in the east.

There's still M52 and the Transdev Metrobuses, but all the TSA Metrobus services will be gone.

Just another fun fact that I found, is that M10 and M50 were both introduced in October (2008 and 2010 respectively), and they will be withdrawn in October too.

A very basic over summary of the changes being made
  • Over 1000 additional services, including more services during peak, on weekends and late at night
  • New all day limited express routes 438X and 461X along Parramatta Road
  • Changing of L routes to four digit X routes
  • Changes to routes in the Concord, Five Dock, Leichhardt and Rodd Point areas, including new route 437, discontinuation of 439/L37/L39 and changes to 464/502
  • Discontinuation of routes M10 and M50, replaced with Light Rail, 440 and 503

437 is exciting. I wish they would withdraw the 480 though and make the 483 runs every 20 minutes Mon-Sat and divert the 415/450 in its place for Homebush Rd.

When they're talking about terminating the 413 at Railway Square and encouraging people to change to the light rail for the CBD isn't that a bit of a large gap? Is there no way to get it through Rawson Place?

Does anything from the inner west actually terminate at Railway Square? I think all of them have their last stop at Pitt & Barlow Sts (a short walk to Rawson Place), which is one stop after Railway Square.

I note that MPs O'Neill and Daley from the east are up in arms about cancelling the M10 and M50.

M10 and M50 were always going to be at the top of the at-risk list so I'm not surprised and neither should the two MPs from the area.

With these routes suggested as alternatives, I guess the answer is no.

Customers travelling to and from the eastern suburbs can use frequent services on routes 394, L94, 396, 397 or 399 along Anzac Parade, or new L3 light rail services.

Customers travelling to and from the eastern suburbs can use frequent L2 light rail services, or routes 373, 374, 376 or 377.

I wonder if it refers to the Pitt Street side of Railway Square.

Yes, the press release says less than 4% of users travel between the two regions on these routes.

They were both listed to go with the other CSELR changes, so they have simply been bought forward a bit.

Kingsford to Leichhardt using the L3 and 440 would be a lot quicker than the m10. Even now, TripFinder suggests that the 391/3/5 and Parra Rd service is quicker. It rarely puts the m10 up as an option

Well, it doesn't need to do a dog-leg around a congested Oxford Rd and Museum station so no surprise.

Another thing I've noticed, 445 is going up from 20 to 15 mins on Saturdays. Shame they didn't decide to lift Sunday frequencies from 30 mins to 15 mins instead or even 20.

The biggest loser for these changes:
- Annandale
- Glebe
- Camperdown

No cuts to 431 on weekends, especially the Government should not cut 431 on Saturdays to every 12 minutes when Glebe market is set to return in a few weeks' time!

Also as 438X and 461X does not stop at Arundel Street/University of Sydney footbridge, I am sure staff/student at USyd, will strongly oppose it.

433 is increased to the same frequency to compensate and presumably even the headway to 6 minutes.

If you had to choose between Ross St and the footbridge for serving the uni, you have to choose Ross St as the footbridge is not accessible. Anyone who can't use stairs would have a long way around to cross Parramatta Rd.

I think the counter-argument is the number of other services that service that stop, and the fact the 438X and 461X stop at Ross St ("for University of Sydney"), which is the stop about 220m to the west of that Arundel St stop anyway, so can't see it as much of a loss for the university passengers.

438X replacing the L38 is a bit of a no-brainer, but is the 461X a prelude to the so-called "Homebush to City" B-line service they had been trying to run (probably not, but it's the only service that goes out most of the length of Parramatta Road that way).

A bit of a major surprise that the 461X hasn't been extended. The number of apartments along Parramatta Road from George St North Strathfield to Bridge Road is phenomenal.

I wonder if the long planned Homebush to City B-line will be a new 460X of sorts down the track and eventually replace the 461X? (with North-south journeys into Burwood and Parramatta Road being replaced by 410 and more frequent 464 services?)

The 525/6 routes service this stretch pretty frequently. There hasn't been a service along Parramatta Road between Burwood Rd and Liecester Ave to my knowledge, not sure why this is.

You can connect easily from the 525/6 to the 461 at Burwood, and most 525/6 services extend to Burwood. I suppose another option could be to extend either one of the 525/6 services along Parramatta Road and then along Burwood Rd, then backtrack to Strathfield.

Only up to Underwood Road. West of Underwood Road has very high density residential developments which will warrant its own set of services - it's a total shame it's a public transport wasteland at the moment. Too far to walk to Homebush or Flemington Stations, or even sneak into Underwood Road for 525/526.

Before the 461 was rerouted into Burwood, it used to turn left into Wentworth Road at Parramatta Road, and then into Strathfield Station (Everton Rd), but I suspect patronage along that stretch of the route wouldn't be high enough when compared with Burwood Road.

422,433, 480, 483, region 7's 501 and the soon-to-be axed 436 all currently terminate at Pitt and Barlow (but show the destination 'Railway Square').
Living at the north end of the 513 & 535. and the confluence of 513, 535, 546, 549, 550, 553, 625 & 630.

What happened to the concept of the inner west buses looping through the Rawson Place tram stop then heading out west again?
