[Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations
September is here, the weather should start to warm up soon.
Normally I'd make mention of the Royal Show, and its extra services, which would have started this Friday, the 4th. However restrictions imposed this year caused by COVID-19 have cancelled the show for this year. The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society have a virtual show on their website, and On The Run are selling showbags so all is not lost for those wanting their 'fix' of the show.
Gawler electrification works continue, with regular night and weekend closures to enable the work to progress.
Work in the Flinders rail extension looks to be nearing completion, hopefully trains start running there before the end of the year.
Please post your South Australian transport observations that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread here.

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations
Saw Old Merc 1322 on the road today,
The guys working inside reminded me of an angry mob looking for somebody
I was on 1909 today,
The bus driver actually said hello back to me which was nice
The exhaust had a nice sounding deep note altho there was some annoying rattling pole inside which could be adjusted also the seats didn't vibrate.
I can't say too much about bus numbers somebody might figure out who I am.

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations
I was on 1759 today it was misfiring badly,
After I ran for the bus with a leg injury from a couple of days ago even though he waited I said Thankyou to the bus driver when I got on but he still acted like a snob.

I was on 1247 today and the bus driver was extremely nice.
@TA3001
Also another reason for vibrating seats is engine mounts problems,
Noticed that on a bus a few days ago but also the bus steal structure of the seats looked weak,
It's either you fix that or the mounts.
I've also noticed in the new buses that the windows have been put in very poorly
It's like "Guys I can still see the glue!

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations
Recently went past Aldgate Depot and saw a red artic there numbered 3379. Are Southlink renumbering all the artics 2854-2856 & 2858 to 3377-3380? Will 2522 and 2523 return to their original fleet numbers of 3223 and 3224?
Can anyone in the hills confirm this? Cheers

3379 is 2858
I also saw 3370 which was 2854
Logic suggests 2855 and 2856 will become 3377 and 3378

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations
Scania #1239 has a large side ad for North Adelaide's SANFLW Premiership win, sponsored by Statewide Super. This is the same as has happened for Norwood & South Adelaide in recent years, but it has been a different bus for each team.

Not a write off I hope. They're not as bad as some folks make them out to be.

When a vehicle catches on fire on its own no mechanic will trust that model again.

Well that's all the CB80's on the list for a start.Big Engine Mechanic wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 9:34 pm When a vehicle catches on fire on its own no mechanic will trust that model again.
