Depicted in the below video are Whipple trusses, which have been left on site as a display exhibit to demonstrate the evolution of railway bridge engineering throughout the ages. These are located adjacent to the main Western line near Sydney Trains Lewisham Station and Sydney Light Rail Lewisham West Stop. Modern security fencing has made it difficult to observe up close, with best views from Cadigal Reserve:

Looking back at old Streetview imagery, there was a full description of what it represents which has since been removed, vandalised or damaged?

Nice freeze framing. I always wondered about that. I just figured it was part of a former bridge that they didn't bother to remove, like the old piers of the former Hawkesbury River Railway bridge and the John Whitton bridge at Meadowbank.
NSW, the state that embraces mediocrity.
