The provision of information has been a bit more hit and miss of late.

For some service changes, explanations carrying a bit more weight than the old standard fare, "deleted due to poor patronage" have been used. At other times, say for the current, ongoing Fremantle Line shutdown, they've suggested alternative services like the 103 and 107 which operate so infrequently as to be next to useless; completely ignorant of the fact the 998 & 999 operate frequently throughout the day AND connect with trains at Shenton Park. I popped in some feedback about that, but it seems to have fallen upon deaf ears.

It's an interesting change given the trend over the past five or more years has been to consolidate route numbers for short-workings and other variations rather than keeping a numerous route numbers in operation (e.g. 955/956, 140/150/160, 67/69).

The difference with the above examples is the 249 (soon 219) goes into Kelmscott Station whereas the 220 stays on Albany Hwy. Not a significant difference in itself and with recent trends, would not warrant its own route number but I suppose the fact that it terminates at a major interchange rather than pass on the main highway is enough of a difference to warrant a unique route number. If it were just a one stop difference in a quiet suburb, it would likely not matter as much and it would just have the same route number.

Got to wonder why it even exists though. Is there enough patronage between Kelmscott and Armadale to warrant the 30 min frequency?

The only example left (aside from the 220/249) where a short-working variant or a one stop difference has its own unique route number would be the 559 I believe. All the recent examples as mentioned above have been consolidated into the main route which I think is far better for legibility (if having short-workings is even necessary in the first place).

I think the patronage is a bit hit and miss on the 220/249 shared section, but all it does is to give Armadale Hospital a roughly 15 minute service to either Armadale Station or Kelmscott Station. Much better than the 220's weekend frequency into there (Saturday at 10/18 past, Sunday at 58/04 past). The few times I've caught a bus through at around 10 or 11am has picked up and dropped off a few passengers.

Cheers!
Officially the last person to tag off the 381 - 20/5/16.
Second last person to tag off the last timetabled 16 - 23/08/19.
Last person to tag off a Transdev Joondalup service - 19/1/20.

Just saw from the Transperth website, there's some route and/or timed stop changes for the routes 390, 391, 467 and 468. Resulting the completion of the Wanneroo Road/Joondalup Drive interchange, which is going to effect 28/02/2021.

Also there's minor time changes for the route 565, which is going to effect from 07/03/2021.

I note from the new timetables that the 555 will run every 10-20 minutes during peak times, which is better co-ordinated with trains than the current flat 15 minute frequency.
PaxInfo wrote: Tue Feb 09, 2021 10:30 am Somewhere along the line a very short short working of the 220, serving only its very southern bit, got the illogical number of 249. The purpose of that shortworking was to provide a combined 30 minute service on weekdays with the main route. This change corrects that anomaly, giving it a sequential route number easier to look up etc (Transperth being more obsessive about those things than we in Melbourne, whose messy 600/922/923 turns 19 this year, has been). Melbourne though rarely gives routes that are shortworkings unique numbers now - 478/479 being the sole surviving example.
I think that the logic behing the 249 number was that it was a Kelmscott feeder (24x) variant of the old route 219 - the 220 (and related route 213) didn't come along until a few years later to cover Wellington Street and Albany Highway when routes 8/10/12 were withdrawn.

As is always the case, they're more than happy to mention the 1001 routes getting some time tweaks to slot in an extra trip (or remove one), but the route receiving what is a fairly significant upgrade to resolve the issue of train connections to/from Perth gets practically zero mention.

Yup... 555 is my local route, but if Traklink didn't mention it above these changes woulda slipped straight by me and would have been unpleasantly surprised when the changes happened! Funnily enough I'm actually worse off as a result of these new times :(

I notice on the "Disruptions" page, Route 33 is mentioned but, same as with the 555 last time, it is curiously missing from the announcement proper 🙄

Proposed changes to route 390, moving to a new terminus on Forever Blvd (which is north of Joondalup Dr, as opposed to the current terminus on Viridian Dr, south of Joondalup Dr).
My Say Transport wrote:We are seeking community feedback on proposed changes to Route 390. With increased residential development in north-east Banksia Grove, and the impending completion of the road network, it is proposed Route 390 realigns onto its long term route which was previously planned in consultation with the local land developer and Local Government Authority.

Transperth is proposing to make the following route changes:
  • Extend Route 390 from Joondalup Dr to a new terminus on Forever Bvd, to travel via Elderiana Lk and Grandis Bvd.
  • Include additional deviations, providing increased capacity and direct access to Joseph Banks Secondary College.
  • No longer travel along Viridian Dr. Residents currently boarding services from these stops would need to board along Joondalup Dr on Route 390.
    • Stop 17768 Viridian Dr after Turquoise Lp
    • Stop 17769 Viridian Dr after Celadon Lp
    • Stop 17770 Viridian Dr before Turquoise Lp
    • Stop 23498 Viridian Dr after Turquoise Lp
    • Stop 22450 Viridian Dr before Tumbleweed Dr
    • Stop 22993 Viridian Dr after Tumbleweed Dr
    • Stop 23354 Viridian Dr after Turquoise Lp
    • Stop 23355 Viridian Dr before Celadon Lp
    • Stop 26934 Viridian Dr before Joondalup Dr
There would be no change to frequency and Route 390 would continue to run at the following times:
  • Every 10 minutes during weekday peak periods.
  • Every 30 minutes during the day.
  • Every 60 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays.
A map of the proposal can be viewed by clicking this sentence. The comment period closes on 7th June.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

The 995 is certainly a surprise the website mentions it’ll be running in tandem with the 950 I wonder if PATH will be running some 102/107s and 995s, not surprised about the changes to the 67.

Looks likely PATH's portion of the route 950 will remain unchanged as they mentioned only the short trips between EQBS and QEII will be reduced, where those trips of route 950 for that portion are mostly operated by Swan.

995 should start from Busport, IMO.

Even better if 995 could be combined with 970.

i am a bit surprise they kept 103 because now 103 will duplicate a lot of route. Also will 107 on sunday still terminates at cottesloe or extend to claremont too.

also i wonder what happen in next change. will 995 just Claremont - City or will extend to some new high freqency route for South of River service

i am bit surpirse that stirling highway get 9xx series given that they already had circle route. Also i wonder will other coridor like Great Eastern Hwy Service get 9xx or not

The 103 doesn’t service Claremont station and this leaves a sizeable gap between Leura Ave and Jarrad street along Stirling highway where there’s no city bound bus services this would push unnecessary forced transfers with the circle route and not everyone can walk to a Fremantle line station people in wheelchairs or with accessibility issues

Remembering though the Circle is helpful for passengers travelling not just along Stirling Hwy, but also those wishing to access the Hospital, Shenton Park Railway Station, and beyond. Basically a frequent option for people who are not interested in going to the City.

The 103 fills a niche in that it gives people access directly to St. George's Terrace and East Perth. While it has definitely seen a lot of cutbacks more recently, there must be a few passengers who would make use of such a route during the peaks. In fact, it would probably be quicker than catching an EQ-bound bus along the Terrace and transferring to a 995, given the amount of other traffic buses have to contend with to access this station.

And will it still run at bihourly 'frequency'?
