Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Voith have a 5sp offering now too.
However, for inner city work particularly, 6 gears is overkill. More wear and tear, and as the box ages, more opportunities for jolts and jerks, particularly with the gear shift pattern most Volvos run. Some of the older Volvo ZF examples in the fleet are beginning to show their age, IMHO.
While the Voiths can have a savage retarder and like to try for higher gears sooner than they should in some circumstances, the DIWA gear (1st) is perfect for pulling away smoothly.

I have seen videos of ZF-fitted Scania KUBs in my hometown getting thrashed. Also, the Voith retarder sometimes sounds like a cat howling, especially on the NH.Merc1107 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 9:59 am Voith have a 5sp offering now too.

ZF have had a 6 Speed offering since the early 2000's.Enviro 500 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:55 am Is Voith still using 4 speeds? I know ZF has gone from 4 to 6.
Both Voith and ZF boxes have their pros and cons. Having driven buses with both manufacturers products, I can say that they both have their positive and negative things about them. Personally I prefer ZF though.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

2087 and 2094-97 are at Rockingham which sent 2246-50 up to Karrinyup so far. I'd assume 2088-93 are in refurb hence they were skipped for now

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Well then, there go my very last chances of capturing pre-refurb 2090s! At least I get to look forward to trying to capture 2200s... alongside TP3237, as it was registered on Thursday.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Not sure if this has already been asked or answered so my apologies but what’s the actual reason for the swap and how many more will be swapped over?

On PerthNow it seems to imply that 3007 got stuck at a later roundabout in Leederville while on 15.

It has been asked and I believe the answer was that it's not for public discussion.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
1683 may be on loan at a guess.
2019-2022 have returned to SR too I believe, along with 2023 joining them.
There's another unit on the back fence at SR with front end damage. I think it may be 1602, going by the position of the fleet numbers on the rear window (don't even bother asking how I know that).

Not sure if this counts here (feel free to move if needed), however, since about mid-June, the original 'Priority Seating' stickers have been gradually replaced with these:

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
saw on perthbus.info is look like 3238 > and 2983 > will back to ZF. is look like the voith is just trial or it maybe use for future in 1 or 2 years (based on trial that happen with b8 in 2018 and 1662, 2244, 2314

1683 is back in beckenham depot including ex transbussleton 813
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Can confirm 1417 is indeed at Malaga, saw it doing a 41 this arvo.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
1418 is at Malaga too. The two new Voith B8s delivered to Welshpool contract displaced 1417/18 to Malaga which replaced 1859/60.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
same with Transdev. the new B8 delivery to Fremantle then displaced some 29xx B7 to Mandurah which replace early 22xx that went to swan. although i coukd be wrong
