Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Not sure if this belongs here, but given the significance of the disruptions, I figured it's worth sharing (if only for posterity). The "Highway to Hell" event on Sunday 1st March, 2020 will result in significant service disruptions and deviations being put in place, as stated on the Transperth Website.
If anyone has a camera handy and is free on the day, it would be well worth making an outing to document both the special event services and the service deviations for freeway buses. In the latter case, I don't think any regular services have travelled this far south on the freeway since the opening of the Mandurah line in December 2007.
In brief (check the posted link for exact times and details):
Route 100 & 910: Will terminate on Clydesdale Street per the 148 & school-day 510 extension, and loop around Neil McDougall Park to resume their normal services.
Route 114: Services towards Perth will operate the usual route to Booragoon Bus Station, then deviate via Riseley Street and Leach Highway to access the Kwinana Freeway. Return services will not enter Booragoon Bus Station, and a temporary bus stop will operate opposite the bus station. It does not appear the route will service any additional stops on the detour.
Route 115: Services to and from Perth will use Leach Hwy to access the freeway and Booragoon Bus Station will not be serviced at all. It does not appear the route will service any additional stops on the detour.
Route 148: All services to be canceled due to lack of access to Canning Highway.
Route 205 & 206: Services to be truncated to Murdoch Station.
Route 500: All services cancelled after lunch.
Route 501: Services towards Fremantle will not enter Booragoon Bus Station, and use the temporary stop on Marmion St. opposite the station.
Route 510: Afternoon services will terminate at Bull Creek (access via Leach Hwy).
CircleRoute: Will not service Barry Marshall Parade (Murdoch University), and will instead service Murdoch Drive & South Street to resume normal routing. All interim stops will be serviced.
Additionally, there will be Special Event services running to cater for this event, also stated on the Transperth Website, although no timings or route information (including whether the services are express or not) are mentioned at this time. The routes are:
- Bull Creek Station to Tompkins Park
- Murdoch University (acting as Park & Ride) to Wireless Hill
- Fremantle Station to Leopold Hotel

FAQs
Why are changes being made?
Transperth undertake regular reviews of the bus network to ensure that routes are still aligned with demand. The changes improve the alignment of bus service provision with demand, providing more direct routes and new connections, which is expected to increase patronage.
Why are some routes being withdrawn or reduced?
Routes are only being withdrawn or reduced where there is low demand. In most cases alternative services exist or new services are being introduced to replace withdrawn services. Reductions have allowed enhancements to be introduced including a new direct service linking Malaga with Warwick along Beach Rd and increases to frequency on many routes.
Why are new routes being introduced or frequencies enhanced?
Transperth have identified a number of areas where demand for bus services is increasing so additional trips have been added to many routes. New routes have been added to provide more direct connections between key activity centres.
How much are these changes costing?
The changes are designed to be cost neutral and it is anticipated that increased patronage will improve sustainability of the network.

Other stuffs that's not mentioned from Transperth website:Mr OC Benz wrote:Wanneroo Road and Mirrabooka bus changes commence from 8 March 2020.
Route 376 will having a minor route modifications in Landsdale to run in the Eastern side of Broadview instead of the Western side of the road. (EDIT: checked with the online timetable and there's no change to the route for that part, seems likely it's drawing error of the route map there, and will be available in the next update dated 15/03/2020.)
Route 60 will having a minor route modifications, and it's no longer travel through Brisbane Street. Newcastle Street and William Street will be used instead. Stop 10216 [William Street before Brisbane Street] will be reinstated by this route change. Should it be possible to adding back the stops in William Street (including stop 10217 [William Street after Monger Street], and a new bus stop at William Street for North bound) to restore back the Northbridge services.
Timetable 139 (routes 593/594) have their times swapped each other for last two columns for Sundays from Mandurah bound.
(Those links below are currently not working until Transperth rectify the naming issue for those filenames, which literally read as effective 3 August 2020. Once they fixed them those links will be working again.)

Yep, it was upgraded a couple of months ago.Enviro 500 wrote:Is William Street now 2-way after Newcastle Street?
I was really hoping the 60 would continue the entire length of William St. I don't understand the need for the small deviation via Beaufort st.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Minor updates for 28 and the Yellow CAT in response to heavy school service patronage effective today:
Transperth Website wrote:Route 28 and Yellow CAT - Additional Trips
Mon 24 Feb
From Monday 24 February, the Yellow CAT and Route 28 will run additional short services for students at Perth Modern School, Bob Hawke College and Shenton College as well as the wider community travelling from Perth into Subiaco.
The additional 28 services will also provide an alternative to heavily patronised Yellow CAT services.
The additional services will operate as follows:
Route 28
Morning
Departing Perth Busport at 8.20am to Jolimont via West Perth and Subiaco.
This trip will terminate at Stop 11496 adjacent to Shenton College.
Afternoon
Departing Roberts Rd adjacent to Bob Hawke College at Stop 28069 at 3.18pm travelling to Perth Busport.
Departing Shenton College at Stop 11515 at 3.20pm travelling to Perth Busport.
These two trips are in addition to the existing 3.08pm departure and will stop at all stops to Perth including Stop 12788 adjacent to Perth Modern School arriving at approximately 3.20pm and 3.35pm.
Perth Modern students are encouraged to make use of this service.
Yellow CAT
Additional buses will run on the Yellow CAT particularly during the busy morning and afternoon school peaks. Where possible, passengers, particularly students should consider catching the additional Route 28 services.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

It's worth noting those links are broken as someone has altered the filenames to the format:
Bus Timebable nnn 20200803.pdf (i.e. in YYYYDDMM format instead of the usual YYYYMMDD). I sent a message to their web site about this, this morning.

Timetable links as on the website:
Also not mentioned on the service changes, the 384-389 Wanneroo Rd trunk has had the timing point moved from Wanneroo Rd/Amelia St (Stop 12340 T, Stop 16396 (385/386) and 12369 F (387-389)) to Wanneroo Rd/Harrison St (Stop 12344 T and 12364 F).

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
That's makes the one literally effective at 3 August 2020 per the online timetable per route so that Transperth needs to fix this one to rectify that on their end.busdriver12 wrote:It's worth noting those links are broken as someone has altered the filenames to the format:

Went to mirrabooka today. Want to inform people who curious which new route is operated by
374 - SWan Transit (Wangara, Joondalup) - Saw 1223 doing it at Mirrabooka after Doing 970
375 - Path Transit (Morley, Bayswater) - Saw 2773 just arrive at Mirrabooka - Before, i thought this route gonna be operated by SWan because it follow 372 route (SWan) but it was a Path route (maybe because Alexander Hts is closer to Path depot Malaga rather than Wangara depot)
448 - SWan Transit (Wangara, Joondalup) - Saw 2148 doing it at Warwick
449 - Path Transit (Morley, Bayswater) - Saw 1409 doing it at Warwick (the desto it display Ballajura, Guandalupe Drive like 362)
although i not sure about other route like 376 is this still Path route or Move to SWan because terminated at Whitfords.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
375 only goes to Alexander Heights where it can interchange with the 377 and other Morley routes, thus making it sensibly go to Path Morley rather than Swan Joondalup (372 went up to Darch where it was in proximity of other Joondalup routes such as 450). Even though it follows the 372, it doesn't follow it far enough into Joondalup territory. I'd imagine, as the 376 still runs through Alexander Heights, that it stayed with Path - it's still predominantly in Morley contract territory.
Case note - I also saw 1223 doing a 448 (8:18 AM Warwick departure). The shift, if you were watching during AM, probably went 448F-385T-970F-374F. No surprises which routes ended up in which contract otherwise.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
So is that why Joondalup has excess capacity and is in a position to move 12 buses to Malaga?
All the same, if 2858-64 weren't destined for Joondalup, they could have been registered as 2779-85 for Malaga instead.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Remembering these changes were intended to be cost-neutral (i.e. robbing Peter to pay Paul), then the changes seem to have resulted in Joondalup doing less service work. I would guess there is also the possibility that rescheduling some services for better coordination could have saved some buses, too.Enviro 500 wrote:So is that why Joondalup has excess capacity and is in a position to move 12 buses to Malaga?
What would be the point of that?Enviro 500 wrote:All the same, if 2860-64 weren't destined for Joondalup, they could have been registered as 2779-83 for Malaga instead.
Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Seems we're getting a bit off topic, but where did anyone say 2860-64 were destined for Joondalup? Much more likely they're Claremont-bound to replace more NHs. Why would Malaga need extra B8s instead? As Merc1107 said, these changes were intended to be cost-neutral so neither depot should need any additional buses to essentially cover the same amount of running, otherwise there would be no point in changing things in the first place.Enviro 500 wrote:

That's one makes me surprised as well as the route 375 operated by Path Malaga instead of Swan Wangara.pasha241 wrote:Went to mirrabooka today. Want to inform people who curious which new route is operated by

For the route 376, only half of weekday trips are extending to Whitfords Station, there’s some short trips runs between between Whitfords and Alexander Heights as well, the rest of them including the weekend trips are terminating in Landsdale.
As said above, those information can be found in the Spatial Data from Transperth Website, located in the routes.txt file.

Because 2857 is at Joondalup and I assume that the next seven are also there.Squiddy wrote:Seems we're getting a bit off topic, but where did anyone say 2858-64 were destined for Joondalup? Actually Shenton Park can take the 12 B7s from Joondalup and Malaga can get 12 newly-minted B8s, including what was later registered 2858-64.sylar wrote:If there was excess buses in Joondalup they could have simply moved them to Shenton Park and withdraw more NH's from there.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Seeing as I rode 2859 on a 103 to Nedlands yesterday I find that hard to believe. Don't 'assume' anything when you don't have a clue what you're talking about. As far as I know 2861+ haven't even been delivered yet. Now can we get back on topic please?Enviro 500 wrote:Because 2859 is at Joondalup and I assume that the next five are also there.
If you insist on continuing this pointless debate about something that's already happened can you at least do it in the general thread rather than cluttering up this one

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Does anyone know if the new Route 281 will appear in Timetable 94 similar to Route 279 appearing in Timetable 89? They both operate on school days only. Does the fact that they are numbered 2XX and not 7XX means that the services get published in a printed bus timetable and not just listed on the Transperth website?
