Supersized "When lights flash" signs on NSW buses and black surroundibg on school lights
During these virus times, I have been noticing something going on with the local buses where I live and I spotted the following dysons buses with new School lights with black around them as well as the supersized "when lights flash" sign
Dysons:
132
454
460 (only saw it with the supersized "when lights flash" sign
462
463
915
916
1068
1069
1117 (although This was done as new)
Martins
125
Unknowns
120
121
122
139
Is this a new NSW Government legislation where School lights are far apart with the supersized when lights flash sign
Cheers MO8562

They appear to be on newish deliveries of custom cb80s with state transit also and maybe the endeavours at Glendenning with busways but don't think the B8 Optimus at Glendenning have them.

New regulations came into effect late last year or early this year requiring the black panel (No adverts allowed) and the larger sign. Also the lights have to be brighter than the turn signal lights. I think it is retrospective. A search on the RMS website will provide the details.
But I see they are still being misused by a lot of drivers.

Would this new bigger 40 "when lights flash" signs on black panel idea might be a way for Transport For NSW to stop or make it harder for transport advertising management companies to to make any type of advertiser deal with operators when it comes to AOAs or full rear end only adsboronia wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:23 pm New regulations came into effect late last year or early this year requiring the black panel (No adverts allowed) and the larger sign. I don't think it is a TfNSW initiative. It would have come from the Road Safety experts within RMS.

Hasn's RMS been dissolved and intergrated into Transport for NSW?

So far, RMS still has an autonomous presence on the web RMS.NSW.GOV.AU

This is due to a new TfNSW technical specification that has come into effect, TS150 - all buses must meet tech spec 150, even older buses! These older vehicles must be retrofitted with the new surrounds and larger signage
Love the new Custom Denning vehicles
Including the Adventurer School Bus
And the Endeavour Low Floor
And the new Element 100% Electric Bus - the first Aussie BEV bus

Where I live:
Dysons Buses 710, 711, 724, 725, 812, 815, 859, 883, 938, 1022 and 1076 have the NSW 40 when lights flash sign but have no modifications and are unlikely to get any modifications as they are Victorian government contracted buses whereas 915, 916, 132, 454, 460, 462 and 463 are NSW contracted Buses, 132 was a surprise given it is reaching the end of its life and was a Bus Dysons bought new and was just a simple transfer to Wodonga. And 454, 460, 462 and 463 were originally owned by mylons.
Im quite confused as 710, 711, 724, 725, 812, 815, 859, 883, 938, 1022 and 1076 have the NSW signage but don't have the supersized when Lights flash sign, I reckon they will all get the supersized sign when the contract is renewed.
