WANTED: Bedford 330 Diesel Engine to replace blown

Post by Vandez »

Hi all, I am looking to buy a good second hand Bedford Diesel 330 engine to replace a blown unit.
Bus is stuck in Byron Bay and would love to be recommended to a mechanic in SE Qld or Northern NSW that knows a bit about these motors, if anyone knows of a motor going at a good price or a good mechanic please let me know.

I think you be hard pressed to find a 330 diesel in good working order I may suggest a Isuzu diesel or if you can get one a Perkins diesel.

I'm not sure that those motors would fit, would they? I Have a 1976 Bedford bus, I was told that there would have to be much modification to put in a different motor...

I am not sure how much rooting to stick a Isuzu motor in but when bus operators have had Bedfords in there fleets and the Bedford engine like the 330 are tired and knacked they would replace them with a different engine.Give this mob in Victoria I know its a long way from where you are but they might beable to help. http://www.acwbedford.com.au/Spares.html

when you say "blown" are we talking about catastrophic failure (ie a big hole where it shouldn't be) or just cant get it started type issue?

Maybe try taking injectors out in case its blown head gasket or cracked head. it wont turn over if 1 or 2 of the cylinders have water in them.
