[Sept-Dec 2021] SA transport observations

Post by The Phonj »

September is here, the weather should start to warm up soon.

Normally I'd make mention of the Royal Show, and its extra services, which would have started this Saturday, the 4th. However restrictions imposed this year caused by COVID-19 have cancelled the show for this year. Again. Some of the ride providers have established a ride area in the parklands, between Anzac Hwy and the West Tce cemetery. Selected retailers including Drakes and OTR are selling showbags so all is not lost for those wanting their 'fix' of the show.

Gawler electrification works continue, with a full line closure slated until early next year.

The first NL202 diesel (Torrens Transit R1333) reaches 25 years of age shortly, it might start to pay getting photos etc of them before they're all gone from Adelaide Metro service.

Please post your South Australian transport observations that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread here.

3401 had the comprehensive tree guard device fitted some time ago, in response to several top windscreen changes, it now has split (2 piece) screens up top.

I did send pictures of the NLB HK low height Enviro 400's to the previous Transport Minister and the tree guards on those buses might have been the inspiration for the current set up.

This is one of NLB low height Enviro 400's - the windscreen guards are of similar layout on 3401, except a little more "intense!

Ive extended this thread until the end of December.

The Christmas Pageant will take place on Saturday 13 November, occurring at Adelaide Oval in lieu of the regular street parade owing to COVID restrictions. Hopefully restrictions will be slowly removed with increases in the numbers of vaccinated people.

I wish all readers a safe festive season.

Does anyone know which BusTech (new AdMet livery) rear ended a truck on South Road at Black Forest (just south of tramline) yesterday afternoon. Major front end damage from the photo I saw. One of Busways 2 or a Torrens Morphettville one? I believe only driver on board.

Spotted midi 116 behind a tow truck heading north on Tapleys Hill Road at Seaton this morning. I presume doing an express service from Morphettville to Sims Metal.
