[July/Aug 2021] SA transport observations

Post by The Phonj »

Half of the year has gone past; and the new financial year is upon us... July is here! Don't forget to do your tax return; hope you get a nice refund!

A quick reminder that Metrocard and Metroticket fares increase as of Sunday 4 July. For details visit the Adelaide Metro website.

Train substitute services continue on the Gawler Central line. Over the school holidays, Outer Harbor and Grange trains will be replaced in their entirety by buses. On the weekends of the school holidays, Seaford line trains will be running from Seaford to Adelaide Showground, with substitute buses running from Adelaide Showgrounds to Adelaide, and Belair trains running from Belair to Mitcham, with substitute buses running from Mitcham to Adelaide.

K-Rail have picked up some ex-Dyson, ex-Transperth Mercedes Benz O405NH's, which should be in service within the next week or two.

Please post your South Australian transport observations that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread here.

With all the extra buses K-Rail have purchased for Rail Sub services over last 6 months or so,am wondering what they are going to do with them later in the year when Gawler Rail Sub services cease?

Gawler Rail Subs won't be required after later in the year? At the earliest it would be just before the election next year.

Most recent announcement is completed in November I think. Most of the poles seem to be up through Womma, Smithfield, Munno Para, Gawler Bypass areas.

Cruiseships and international tourism is halted for now so companies like Kanga are doing what they can to stay active.
Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

For those wondering those ex Transperth O405NH / Volgren CR225L units are VOITH’s same as Torrens Transit 1542 mechanically.

They are
ex TP1305
ex TP1309
ex TP1310
ex TP1311
ex TP1513.

An unusual incident occurred on the O-Bahn yesterday afternoon .
On another site an enthusiast captured a photo of a Torrens Transit CB80 1526 with no guide wheels driving between TTP and Paradise Interchanges.,
I would imagine that driver would have had a bit of explaining to the St.Agnes management when he returns to the depot..

How come the 1526 wasn’t fit with guide wheels? Aren’t they the same bus as the other CB80s?

1521 to 1533 are Scania CB80 that have never been fitted with guide wheels, this driver had illegally driven 1526 onto the track.

At the start of the new school term last week Edinburgh North gained an additional 10 shifts on GA Services,,whilst Kanga lost the 10 of them.
As a result 11 L94UB Scanias were transferred from Morphettville Depot to Edinburgh North Depot (refer fleet lists for details)).

I heard on Monday that they were all being done this week. Quite a lengthy process as every bus must have an individual QR code otherwise tracing won't work.

Surely a registered smart-card would be sufficient given Adelaide is not accepting onboard payments?
