[Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
A New Year is upon us; Congratulations!! We all made it through the old one
Reviewing 2020.....
The Bus Preservation Association of South Australia was launched. Visit their website at http://www.bpasa.org.au for more information.
The last CNG MAN SL202 was retired on 30 June 2020.
A new livery was launched for newly built buses, and later in the year, the length of newly delivered buses was reduced from 12.5m by about a metre, to potentially allow the buses on the O-Bahn.
Train services to Flinders station commenced on 29 December 2020.
Work on the Southern Expressway project at Darlington is largely completed, with minor finishing works (primarily resurfacing) remaining.
Gawler electrification work continues apace, with the last train running on the line from Salisbury to Gawler in the early hours of 26 December 2020. Substitute bus services are running on the entire length of the line, until late April 2021, with continuing closures expected until October 2021.
Adelaide Metro bus service contracts were awarded, with operations commencing from 5 July 2020. Torrens Transit retained their East-West, Outer North East and North South contracts, also picking up the Outer North contract from Southlink. Southlink retained the Hills contract, and Busways picked up the Outer South contract from Southlink.
Tram services were also contracted out, with Torrens Connect, a joint venture between Torrens Transit, John Holland and UGL being awarded this contract as part of the North South bus contract.
Keolis Downer were awarded the contract to operate Adelaide Metro train services, with operations to commence on 31 January 2021.
The COVID-19 infection arrived in Australia, putting an effective stop to domestic and international travel in March. While limited domestic travel has resumed, international travel remains off the cards until some time in the future. Assorted and ongoing state border closures, with some closures being made while planes were midway to their destination, make domestic travel difficult even going into 2021.
Please post your South Australian transport observations here that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread.
I hope that all have a prosperous and happy new year for this 2021!

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
1419 would be a temporary replacement for damaged 1413(O-Bahn accident a few weeks ago).
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
It appears that NL202 R2208 has been operating out of Mile End Depot for a while-previously based at Edinburgh North Depot since July 2020.
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
The latest Scania Bustech to enter service with Torrens Transit is 1092.

1419 has been at Port for several weeks and likely to remain there as I don’t think 1413 will be returning to service.
And R2208 has been at ME for quite a while but is often sent out from there as a changeover for buses from other depots broken down in/near the city. It’s been at Port a couple of times because of this including a stay of almost a week.

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
1791, a new BusTech Scania Hybrid was undergoing trials on the O-Bahn track again this morning. It's currently based at Morphettville I believe. This new bus 1791 is currently undergoing trials on the O-Bahn.
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
Torrens Transit Scania L94UA (Custom Coaches CB60 Combo) #952 (based at St. Agnes) broke down a short time ago at Elizabeth Interchange
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
I haven't seen it at Morphettville, last it was photographed at Scania at Wingfield,in fact it was sighted heading up Grand Junction Road towards TTP, where it undertook a test trip to the City and back.
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
I saw the Scania/Bustech Hybrid at Tea Tree Plaza Interchange undergoing O-Bahn testing on Wednesday the 6th. I’ve heard that the bus is based at St. Agnes.

Torrens Transit electric bus 1788 which has been in and out of service for a few years was in service this morning on 99 city connecter services.
Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
According to live tracking data, TT L94UA CB60 Combo #1010 completed an O-Bahn trip (Route M44) on Wednesday the 13th. Can anyone confirm if this is true? The last I knew, no L94UAs were O-Bahn equipped.

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
It was one of the following:
1. A cut in from Marion to City to cover for a driver or a broken down bus. The passengers transfer to an O-Bahn equipped bus on Currie St.
2. One of the afternoon peak trips from the City to Marion (starting Stop S1 Grenfell St), which use any bus. Before Christmas generally sliver shift non O-Bahn buses did these services, but recently I've noticed O-Bahn shifts will do these.

Is 1801 still at Morphettville or has it been transferred to Port Adelaide? I've seen it on the Anytrip app on a few Port shifts this week.

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
I had a ride on 1937 yesterday and it was interesting to note that it has had the scrolling “Next Stop” screens installed same as 1046+ has. Are there any other buses apart from obviously the new Bustechs that have had these installed?

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
1936 and 1937 have had the scrolling screens and next stop announcements since new. They used to quite often get used on City Connector shifts.
1801 has been at Port depot since Tuesday as part of an on road changeover, just hasn’t been returned to MV yet. Not sure which bus MV has got from P.

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
There is no way to tell. Shift numbers, run numbers and trip numbers are not publicly available. Torrens Transit handle this data not Adelaide Metro and the GTFS data that is available and apps like AnyTrip use. You can tell where the shift comes from based on what buses normally complete those shifts. i.e a 503 might be completed by TT #1818 which is based at St. Agnes. For the next few trips/days, that 503 at the same time might, again, be operated by a St. Agnes bus. Therefore, the shift is a St. Agnes shift.2MSJ wrote:How can you tell on the app where the shift comes from?transenthusiast wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 5:53 pm Is 1801 still at Morphettville or has it been transferred to Port Adelaide? A few movements coinciding with new timetables for Torrens Transit
Artics 803-1187-1188-1189 have moved from Morphettville to Mile End
O-Bahn Artics-
1151 St Agnes to Port
1118-1119 to Morphettville.

Re: [Jan/Feb 2021] SA Transport observations
Noticed both this morning and again tonight in the peaks in Currie, Grenfell and King William Streets that many services were running very late with many up to 15-20 minutes late and several running later than that.
I am wondering if the new timetables that came into effect this week, with reduced running times has contributed to these delays-nearly every route suffered from late running.

1318 was used as a changeover yesterday. It will be back at P within a day or two.
