Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
Do Buslink buses doing SERVICE work have to be in Darwinbus livery unlike their charter fleet. I remember many many years ago when I visited Darwin, Buslink had PMCSA bodied Mercedes Benz OH1316s (or could have been 1418s). Don't much care for their "livery" now

I thought something wasn't quite right, but I can assure you, that is definitely a O500LE as noticed by several features. And certainly not 1997 either!
Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
However it once was a O405NH. See attached.

Thanks . Can anyone confirm what the rego is of the new 152 as I dont think I can read it. It could be 2996 but I am not sure.

I really don't like the CR221L's fitted with the projector headlamps like the CR228L's. I understand why they have done it, but I think it looks awkward.

At least it looks nicer than the new-ish livery, by a big amount.grenda bus 669 wrote:the picture that apollo posted.Mitch wrote: I don't understand what you're asking? What livery?

I have to agree with TP 1592, it's a lot nicer than the current. Although I'm not saying that the current livery is bad.TP 1592 wrote:At least it looks nicer than the new-ish livery, by a big amount.grenda bus 669 wrote: the picture that apollo posted.

I reckon the current livery is pretty good and effective. I like the front bumper painted black too. It fits in with the front screen and door and hides any bumper damage.

Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
No, they all have ZF 5HP500 gearboxes which in my opinion are awesome on these buses... Especially if you get a driver who knows where the foot belongs on the pedal!

Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
Perth is the only place that was stupid enough to get pathetic 4 Speed Voith's on their NH's. The ZF ones are soooooooo much nicer!Q4004 wrote:Do the 0405NH's up in Darwin have a voith gear box?
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
Darwin is like Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane & now Sydney, they have opted for a standard livery for their fleet aswell as contractor "Buslink"'s fleet as they do not run their own routes, they operate Darwinbus (government) routes under contract.

Re: Mr OC Benz visits Darwin - Buslink
Standard livery fleets do make it much easier for passengers in many respects and many cities around the world opt for this.
Also while we're at the discussion of gearboxes, it's interesting to note that since the mid-80s, Perth has always opted for Buses with Voith (if Voith was an option on the Merc OC500LEs, they would've received it no doubt). Darwin from what I can see has always used ZF, although apparently their NL202 fleet use to have Renk 3speed, all the ones I observed and rode in Darwin were f#%ked ZF 5 speeds. Adelaide has also been a big ZF user except for some odd bod SL202s, NL202 Mk I, and 542.
