Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Willawongs 5062 out on an outbound 113 and inbound P173 (https://anytrip.com.au/region/qld/tripI ... ekday-02/0) earlier this morning (more than likely a cover run). How it made it through some of those corners and streets in Mt Gravatt East and Holland Park is beyond me. Still awaiting for any sort of high capacity buses on the Gympie Road corridor (or the entire Northside for that matter)...

The electric Yutongs will be rolling out into City Loop services progressively from 14 June, with all four into City Loop services by the first week of July.
“The trial will begin with one electric bus on the free City Loop service and progressively include the four electric buses.”
“By the first week of July all four electric buses will be operating, running across the two free City Loop services, route 40 and 50.”

Also note that current information from Council is that the wrapped artics will commence Glider service from July 2021 with the others to follow later in the year.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Reg no for T2937 is XQ78SP, which has been in service for a couple days already.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Both W5056 and W5070 operating a 100 this afternoon. I've never really seen TAGs on the 100 outside of peak times.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Hopefully, that means Council will not be purchasing any more diesel buses from this point forward. Pending the trial of the 4 Yutongs commencing in the next few weeks on the City Loops, they could be a permanent fixture of the Council fleet, as well as the many other bus companies that would put forward their electric buses for Council tendering in the coming years.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
There has been massive controversy regarding how Council chose the trial vehicles to be from Yutong and not locally manufactured.
I do hope that the mainstream tender for the electric buses are locally manufactured rather than Chinese Import

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
What people aren't aware of is that Volgren didn't actually put in a submission for tendering (because they didn't have an electric bus model). And plus, who wants Bustech running around our streets anyway? They are pretty crap compared to others on the market.BT Enthusiast wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 4:23 pm There has been massive controversy regarding how Council chose the trial vehicles to be from Yutong and not locally manufactured.

1227 and 1228 are listed at Manheim for auction on Friday 04 June 2021.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Although Yutong's electric bus is awesome, they are mainly focusing on the European market, I haven't seen any Yutong units in Australia for public transport use. They should bring the fully-low floor models, I don't want to see any more low entry units, as they are awful when standing on the back.BT Enthusiast wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 4:23 pm There has been massive controversy regarding how Council chose the trial vehicles to be from Yutong and not locally manufactured.

In terms of the mainstream fleets, I think Volvo's products will be in place again, but in a few years later. Chinese are at the top of the electric bus, I have to say that, at least for now. And that's the reason why BCC chose to purchase some YUTONG units, while European products will be back somehow later.

SCANIA just unveiled some new products, I hope to see them in Australia very soon.Cazza wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 4:29 pmWhat people aren't aware of is that Volgren didn't actually put in a submission for tendering (because they didn't have an electric bus model). Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021
Had an outbound 185 miss a turn earlier today. Instead of turning right from Broadwater Rd into Ham Rd, he continued straight (like the P179/180 does). Being a TAG, it makes turning around somewhat a little more difficult than a normal bus. The driver turned right into this driveway (https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.545 ... 384!8i8192), which I though he was going to do a 3 point turn and reverse straight out again. But he continued all the way up to the church in the hope of looping around, needless to say would have been impossible in normal bus, let along a TAG (https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.546 ... a=!3m1!1e3). I had to get out and help guide him as he reversed all the way back down to Broadwater Rd.
All in all, he did pretty well given the situation he got himself into, and this sign on the street light ended up being the only casualty: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.546 ... 312!8i6656

What will be the next supplier? I can't believe this would be the last diesel bus in Brisbane.superbossgc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 1:57 pm very last bus is finished as T2939, then 12 years are done by BCC on Volvo and Volgrens. 2009-2021
