E6001 has visual and audio destination display and announcements. Very smooth ride and no ratles.

Good to hear that, as Translink is already left behind NSW and VIC in terms of onboard audio services.

The audio loops are too little, too late. Many passengers are "plugged in" (so to speak) with their smart phones and completely oblivious to any and all announcements. Many others speak English as a second, third, fourth, ... , language and as such, announcements would not be of particular use.

Perhaps with the proliferation of smart devices, add functionality to transit apps to remind you when your desired stop is approaching.

The apps are fine but bit fiddly. There is also lag. The onboard announcements are useful for tourists and casual users of public transport. The amount of times I am asked on the bus "what is the next stop" is phenomenal. People also press the stop button all the time for the incorrect stop. Next stop announcements will ensure people are well informed throughout their journey.

I believe the plan for Toowong is:

Toowong currently has approx. 110 B8RLEs, 40 MAN Diesels and 60 MAN Gassies
The contract with Volgren has ended so we probably won't see any new buses in the meantime.
Since BCC is soon taking over SWT and Hornibrook routes again, I'd assume that those buses would go back to Toowong.
Now that these buses are back, the MAN Gassies would probably all go.

This would leave Toowong with approximately 180 buses, with 125 B8 and 65 MAN Diesel.

This is inline with the normal number of buses that T has had in the past

If that route work they are taking over is in addition to present peak needs, how would that result in surplus buses, might I ask?

I think BT Enthusiast was talking more about Toowwong moving towards a non-CNG depot than an overall TfB bus surplus.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with the B8 rigids that originally ran the blue glider. Will they be re-wrapped as Gold Gliders or will TfB preference retiring gassies?

I think TfB should prefer pulling out gas buses.

Route 199 is moving onto Skyring Terrace to accommodate bendy buses at Teneriffe Ferry.
From Monday 12 July there will be changes to route 199 in Teneriffe:

Services heading towards the city will depart from the nearby stop on Skyring Terrace (shown below).
Services from the city will terminate at a new set down-only stop on Commercial Road near Skyring Terrace.

This change is being made to accommodate the new, longer Blue City Glider bus fleet.

Nightlink N199 services won't be changing and will continue to depart from the Commercial Road ferry terminal stop.
