Any word on the new artics being put in service? They were delivered months ago now!

I believe that there is an issue with Translink funding to put artics on the Route 60.

What is the funding issue, specifically?

I would guess that it costs more to run artics than rigids.

I am unsure of the environment TfB operates in (i.e. are they contracted by Translink in a competitive arrangement? Or do they have exclusive rights to run buses in specific areas in/around Brisbane City?), so was curious as to how they could purchase additional articulated buses but not have the funding to operate them.

Apparently some improvements are needed at some stops in West End as well as additional driver training. They should be in service when these items are ticked off.

I remember a report saying that the previous batch of B8As would only be used on busway routes because they'd be too big to fit in stops.

So I'm guessing yeah that's why as well

No MANs or Scanias listed for auction on Manhiem. Despite 10 new B8s being delivered.

Have they acually withdrawn the Scanias yet? And have their replacement MANs made their way to G yet?

Despite their replacement MANs made their way to G, all Scanias are not yet withdrawn. Maybe at the end of the year or the beginning of next year, the seven Scanias may be withdrawn

Might be still at T? Just not changed letters?

Or more likely covering for S, as we have seen with C covering E on occasions.

C1894 will possibly be withdrawn and written off after the Wynnum accident.

Already transferred to Garden City, with G stickers on. Just finished 174 and 175 trips before operating the 444.

I would assume that they would just repair it as something similar happened to S2068 earlier this year and the bus was clearly new enough to still be kept.

Also, can you please provide a link?

Nothing to do with the age of the vehicle but rather the extent of the damage.

Yeah... but it depends. If a new B8 was involved in a crash and it was completely smashed up then they would repair it even rebody it, but if an old MAN was involved in minor collison and it required say a minor refront then it would likely be withdrawn. S2068 was pretty bad.

Also, can anyone PM me any pics or post any news articles of C1894's accident?

Just saw 2906 out on a 372.

2908 at Toowong and 1293 at toowong unregistered and with decals removed. Likely next to be withdrawn.

According to https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-11-03/ ... l/12840670, gas buses will be off from Brisbane's roads by 2027 and be replaced with other greener technologies.

Does anyone see a gas bus out before all of gas buses were withdrawn by 2027?

They're still being used at some depots.
At Toowong new Diesel buses are coming in and drivers prefer those so gassies aren't being used that much

Willawong and Garden city the drivers have no choice so they're still out and about
