Re: BT Scanias
Stan Biega (Bus Sales Online) has purchased 21 Scania's from the Brisbane City Council for re-sale - and is currently undertaking a diesel engine replacement program.
One of them is V781.

Re: BT Scanias
Anyone know the possible outcome as to what will happen with G when they start withdrawing the Scanias they have? G can't keep them around forever and I'm sure they'll want to eventually get new buses in to replace them (either brand new or transferred from T if they get the CNG MANs).

If you want to know the answer to this one, best advise is to go see someone who looks into Crystal Balls, because who gets what is constantly changing. Virginia will be relinquishing all theirs, but Garden City Scanias will be around for a little while yet.Anyone know the possible outcome as to what will happen with G when they start withdrawing the Scanias they have? Who bleedin thanked me? I was just doin my job
Re: BT Scanias
I am surprised that BT haven't withdrawn more Scanias - there have been no new services but they aren't being replaced at the same rate as the new buses come on stream.
Re: BT Scanias
Keeping some for spare parts donors I expect, being gassies. And given they don't have the same sale appeal as the previous diesels there is no rush to get rid of them.
It will be interesting to see what price and what level of interest the diesel conversions being done by Stan Biega will generate.

Re: BT Scanias
Many of the Scanias are very noisy, rattle a lot, are an uncomfortable ride and leak badly when it rains.

Must be just the V ones your talking about? Most of the G ones are great - never had many issues with them. Nothing wrong with a very noisy scania if its the ZF gearbox singing away .daveeyh wrote:Many of the Scanias are very noisy, rattle a lot, are an uncomfortable ride and leak badly when it rains.

Re: BT Scanias
Two Scanias listed for auction at Manheim yesterday - 702 and 748.
702 was listed as being located at Garden City and the photos on the site were files pictures of a Scania, not of 702 - weird. Has this bus actually been withdrawn or is the bus still in service and BT were testing the waters for a sale? (I note that 775 was listed for auction in December and then it was back in service so being on Manheim does not seem to mean that the bus is withdrawn.)
748 was withdrawn in 2015 so curious that this is the first time it has been listed for auction.

I noted 695, 723, 803 and 805 have all had their "G" removed and were on V runs this morning.Maladjusted wrote:TLK askedIf you want to know the answer to this one, best advise is to go see someone who looks into Crystal Balls, because who gets what is constantly changing. Obviously replacing the 21 Optimus buses that were transferred out to E (and the consequent movement from E to S and S to C).
Looks like V is back to being the major Scania Depot again.
Re: BT Scanias
I get the impression that Eagle Farm is going all Optimus until I noticed 2072 and 2073 are now at Sherwood. First Optimus buses for the southside notwithstanding that Eagle Farm share the 196 with Sherwood.
Re: BT Scanias
Regarding this, is there something special re the ex-CitySights buses 2033, 2034 and 2035 as they didn't go to Sherwood with the others?ABS wrote:I get the impression that Eagle Farm is going all Optimus until I noticed 2072 and 2073 are now at Sherwood. Also wonder if they will do up some Optimus buses to do the QUT shuttles?
Re: BT Scanias
Seen 694 parked up at Virginia today with 802 going onto a school run. Has anymore gone from GC recently??
Re: BT Scanias
I have seen 695, 696, 701, 710, 714, 720, 722, 723, 800, 801, 802, 803 and 805 on Virginia runs recently.Skyblue1 wrote:Seen 694 parked up at Virginia today with 802 going onto a school run. Has anymore gone from GC recently??
708 and 709 have still been on G runs in the last couple of days; therefore, the movement of buses seems a bit haphazard.

Re: BT Scanias
According to the BT buses website, 702 is withdrawn with numerous V sightings still allocated to GC. Needs an update I think.
