Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
I have yet to see a topic devoted to the Custom Coaches- coach models so here it is.If you have any interior photos of these coach models you're welcome to add them here too.
What was the body series of the 12.2 metre coach version? (not the "Hyliner").
Where are these coaches now?

Thought I would ad this Volvo B10M Custom Hyliner to the list, operated by RD FH Sainty in Tasmania. Had the privilege of riding in this coach a couple of weeks ago and she ran extremely well

I have some pics of CB50's, CC420's and SB50's
Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
I saw so many of those Hyliners in the factory when they were being framed up, I worked on the Westbus one and the Saintys' one when they were new to Westbus years ago. Great times!

Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
Is Deluxe Coaches related to Delwood Coaches? Going by the livery.
Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
No.They werent related.Bjwh86 wrote:Is Deluxe Coaches related to Delwood Coaches? Going by the livery.
There was a Deluxe contractor who had their own livery which Deluxe ended up using as their own.
Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
Did anyone ever drive the Hyliner models? What were they like compared to other high deck coaches ?
Where are all these coaches now? How many were built?

There is a 2013 thread on TV 1587 Deluxe Charters
http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 47&t=75407
Unfortunately the photos are lost so it is not possible to see if it is the same vehicle.
The history of that vehicle at Deluxe Charters is
which matches the North Coast comment in that thread.ex Baxter's Coach Lines (Holroyd Bus Lines Pty Ltd), Girraween (37) TV 1587 (RC45FT) -/03; ex State Rail Authority (C6.8115) MO 0571.
Sold to SJ Gatland t/a Mid Coast Shuttle, Pacific Palms as TV 1587 15/5/09.
It also get a mention on a 2007 thread http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 87#p296229
But all this is well after Delwood ceased to exist so they could not have adopted the livery of that coach.

Scania Super Hi Decker (for comparison) Yes - I drove both Volvo and Scania models (See below) These were a different class of vehicle as compared to say, a Scania Super Hi Decker which was an Interstate Express Coach with a K113 powerplant/ 12 speed syncro with H/L 770 splitter and beefier running gear - The Hyliner was a Charter and Tourist Coach not really designed for this application (although we did long distance charters in them)
Scania unit had a K112 powerplant with a 12 speed (H/L) 770 transmission and was a thoroughbred straight from a standing start (140K/ph if you wanted it fully laden but governed to around 120 K/ph for safety and economy sakes.
Volvo B10M Hyliner on one of the many charters I drove to Sydney 2 up in 88/89 - Don't recall the powerplant (others will know) but I think she had a 10 speed (H/L) and was just a cruiser fully laden and had a tendency to wallow (nicknamed "OVLOV" as that is what other coach drivers saw in the rear view mirror as you were usually overtaken by them!) nice day tour coach and probably a bit tired by then) Here,s our old company brochure:

Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
Yes it did captain, we only built one single axle Hyliner
Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
Would like to know how many Hyliner's were built?
I'd like to get some comparison between the Hyliner and say the Volgren Twin Deck?
The obvious would be comparing the 2 because of their B10M chassis similar dimensions. The exception being the downstairs saloon and the air cond on the roof of the Hyliner.
The top winscreen on both coaches was similar. The Hyliner's were bigger.
Does anyone have a spec sheet for the Hyliner's on any chassis?
How about a comparison between the various locally built makes of high decks at the time:
Hyliner,
Volgren Twin Deck
PMC Apollo High deck,
Denning Landseer High Deck,
Austral HD1 high deck
MotorCoach Australia High Deck.

Amazing the stuff you once collected and put away in a box somewhere. Having said that I miss the Telegraphs Big Wheels Section (NSW) every Saturday.
You could always rely on it to have a bus related story. My one regret looking back now is never recording the date of the article.

Think for yourself, while it's still legal !

The Deluxe coach is shown in the background in the first photo in a photo thread posted last night. www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79105Denv12 wrote:No.They werent related.Bjwh86 wrote:Is Deluxe Coaches related to Delwood Coaches? Going by the livery.

Re: Custom Coaches:The Coach models.
Did Custom Coaches build a few variations of their early to mid 1980s 3 axle coach model but in different heights? (I'm not referring to the Hyliner.) I remember seeing a photo somewhere of a coach but it was taller.Definitely a Custom Coach.
