ex MTT (Adelaide) 413 (AEC 661T trolley bus). 19/3/20

Post by The Inspector »

ex MTT (Adelaide) 413 (AEC 661T trolley bus) with bodywork built by local Adelaide builder J.A. Lawton & Sons in 1937.
It was one of 30, numbered 401 to 430 to enter service with the MTT. The double deckers seated fifty-seven with a crush load of eighty-four, all were withdrawn by June 1957, with a few briefly returning to service in August 1958.
413 was seen in Penfield Gardens, north of Adelaide, it is not known how long she has been resting there for but her future looks very grim. 19/3/20

Is this the TB that keeps getting moved around?

The were photos of one out in "the middle of nowhere" a few years ago, but more recent reports suggested it was no longer there.

There have been photos in magazines and on FB pages for quite some time. Not sure of the locations now, though

Hi all, thank you very much for posting this abandoned trolley bus in Penfield gardens. I live in Adelaide and I would like to have a look of this history.
Can someone kindly provide the directions or exact location where this bus sits please.
Thanks in advance

It's not abandoned, it has an owner.

I doubt it will ever move from this location unless in a skip, but would be very happy to be proven wrong.

I find it interesting that The Inspector's photo shows it as being in what looks like it may be the same location as your Google Maps image, however the Google Street View shows it as in a different location next to some sheds.

I am amazed that it was able to be moved! I did look at the street view in the side street which showed an earlier image from March 2008 before the bus was there, but didn't think to look around the corner.
