Two days in Adelaide

Post by jarf »

On the 17th and 18th of September I was in Adelaide for the first time since early 2009. I didn't even get close to the 1027 photos I managed to snap in six days back in 2009, but here's a selection. Comments are more than welcome.

I find it quite rare to have a driver smile while taking their photos...

The smile-less 2588 looks quite weird without its red lip... also the L94 artic showing Kingswood 172 is bus 1006 not 1406. :)

That shot of 1170 is showing a St Agnes biscuit in the window, I don't seem to recall that bus running St Agnes services!

1132 is a very ugly bus. Even more so because the Merc badge is upside down  great photos, either way.

Can someone explain to me what the "biscuit" is that everyone is talking about?

Thanks,

The "biscuit" to which is referred traditionally shows the run number of the bus concerned. In recent years it has come to refer to the shift (duty, etc) number of the driver's work. It is the piece of usually corflute material visible, typically located in the nearside corner of the windscreen, although sometimes seen nearer the centre of the windscreen.

As these photos were posted on Saturday 1 October - the last day of Torrens Transit operating in the North-South and Outer North-East contract areas; I see nothing unusual about that photograph - unless the photographer has access to a TARDIS or other time traveling device!
