There are a lot of private bus photos in the Sam Hood collection in State Library NSW, I gather taken often for builders or operators.
This one has me puzzled - an apparent Syd Wood-bodied AEC from 1947, brand new at Hastings Deering, according to the notes.
My first impulse is that it is one of Newmans buses (Longueville) from 1947-48 but the chassis brand is wrong and the headlights are different. Any ideas?

Re: Bus identity?
Red Top Transport at Lakemba had a similar bus to this and from memory was m/o 670. A colour photo would have confirmed ownership.
Re: Bus identity?
Yes, the black and white photo shows a scheme that could either be Red Top or Longueville, but the headlights aren't Longueville (unless they were changed).hugh45 wrote:Red Top Transport at Lakemba had a similar bus to this and from memory was m/o 670. A colour photo would have confirmed ownership.
Re: Bus identity?
Another similar bus is the Belmore/Lakemba bus m/o 4070 which is now at the Bus Museum. It too has the headlights in a different place. However the detail of the placing of the route number box is the same.
Re: Bus identity?
The bus belongs to Arthur Marrin m/o 70 AEC Syd Wood Route 34. GM
