Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
Willcox Bus Service use silver flutes on their 1960's PMC Bodied Bedfords - it is the similar one but identical to what Willcox used to have.

The set up was common in those days, but often stacked vertically

Towards the end of the Willcox ownership they also had a CCMC bodied Val 14 that came from Singleton.
Photo I took when trading as Auburn Bus Service and the deregistered CCMC VAL in the centre.

Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
Hi Centralian, This does not look like Wilcox's Depot but more like Spackman Bros who took over from John Parkes (Wilcox's son in law).
Their Depot was on the other side of Silverwater Road and on the South Side of Adderley St?
They needed a very thin man to go between the two VAL's? GM

Yes GM, it was at the depot site you refer to, when the RTA put the M4 through their old depot site. Space doesn't seem much better between that PMC VAL and the fenceline.

Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
Yes as of 23rd July 1976 the DMR resumed their depot (near Melton Street) and they had to move to temporary depot at Adderley Street near Silverwater Road intersection (right next to Kohler Engineering) for 5 months before moving into the 3rd Adderley Street depot.Centralian wrote:Yes GM, it was at the depot site you refer to, when the RTA put the M4 through their old depot site. The Spackmans took over management of Willcox and renamed to Auburn Bus Service from August 1976. The final months of 1976 saw rationalisation of routes, route 15 merged into 15, and route 62 merged into 16 in the third week of November 1976

Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
Auburn BS was brought by Todds the in late 1985 brought Cherter Hill Bankstown route 73 & 84 from the Deweys
Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
Thanks.A partnership of Todd and Barry Briggs I understand.Landseer wrote:Auburn BS was brought by Todds the in late 1985 brought Cherter Hill Bankstown route 73 & 84 from the Deweys
Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
I understand Auburn Bus Service ceased in the early 1990's following a publication in the Daily Telegraph about service standards, please elaborate. Parramatta Ryde Bus Service took over route 1 & 16 services while Auburn to Parramatta was taken over by another company that this service is now run by Transdev. Let's go back to the Bedford VAL topic.

The company that took over route 73 Auburn to Parramatta was Delwood coaches according to a section of the companies history in the operators information2112Y wrote:I understand Auburn Bus Service ceased in the early 1990's following a publication in the Daily Telegraph about service standards, please elaborate. Re: Bedford-29 takes a picture
I'm hoping it was towed from a property to its current position (Assuming its about to go into a driveway?) and not driven around, especially considering the apparent lack or registration on a double points week/endBedford-29 wrote:Heading into Morayfield this morning I spotted this old PMC bodied VAL in Lindsay Rd Morayfield which was towed to where it sitting after breaking linkage near the gearbox

I think the owner said he had a unregistered vehicle for it till it broke down.
