Thank you WSP for your time consuming efforts in preserving Colin's work for the future.
I note your comment re the Driver's appearance. Summer or not staff of the time were expected by most employers to observe rigorous dress standards. Along with the tie many operators also had staff wearing Dust Coats and boy, did that addition warm one up in Summer. At least you could keep the front door open to let a little breeze in. No A/C in those days, unless you count the 30/60 air, (sniggers)!
Hope we see more great memories soon!

Re: Rowes and Bowmans from Colin Gray Slides
So what happened with Bowmans? Was there a hostile takeover or did the NSW Government give their routes to Bosjnak's/Westbus and/or Rowes/Busways?
I like the pic of the ex-LT Merlin. Although I wasn't around in that time I seem to believe it was a better time for bus enthusiasts back then, with all the variation in bus types...

Bosnjak took them over - I dont think there was anything hostile about it. In those days the Government did not get involved in that sort of thing like they would today. Busways (Rowes) were in no way involved.
Yes there was certainly more variety in those days and it will get even less in the future.

There are two Leylands there so I dont know which one you are referring to but in any case the answer is easy. Neither of those buses appeared in their 1983 fleet list when they were still known as Rowes.

Re: Rowes and Bowmans from Colin Gray Slides
This is so cool! I used to catch both of those Merlins and even the Bedford in the top shot as a kid in my school days, beautiful sstuff and thank you. I even remember seeing the VK55s from Dick Rowes' fleet in Mt Druitt too back in those days, the Clydesdales too but I honestly missed out on the Leopard. Great stuff once again!
