Are the rear doors a plug-door setup?

Also, Busways must be over the moon about this vehicle!

Thanks,

It is not a separate chassis, it is an integral. That's why the tare weight of one of these things is only about 600kg shy of a O500LE CNG! They are seriously bloated!

Is this the same demo Forest WERE using :?: or a NEW vehicle built for Busways :?: If the demo, is it on trial (like Forest), or in permanent service :?: Thx

The demo that Forest were using got sold to Translink (QLD) and has been repainted to the best of my knowledge. This vehicle here is the third CDI that Bustech built, it was the demo that they had painted with kangaroos on the sides. You have to keep up with Bustech on Facebook and then you'll have this info!

Peta, I'll assist you with answering Tas Bus Nut's inquiry:

Tas Bus Nut:
Since August 4th there have been 3 Bustech CDI's delivered:

Bustech CDI#1 (emerald green) Translink is now Fleet #343 with Surfside Buslines, Ernest Depot. Registered as 006-RWI. It finished its trial with Hornibrook bus lines, Scarborough, QLD just 2 days ago. It will have returned to Ernest yesterday, and should recommence 705 Pacific Fair, 703 Harbour Town services.

Bustech CDI#2 is CDI-11. (ochre red)-->painted into lime green. It is now part of the Translink program, Fleet #351 with Surfside Buslines, Ernest Depot. Registered as CDI-11. It returned to Ernest on the 18th of October. It should have begun servicing the Nerang area (Route 707).

Bustech CDI#3 is m/o-5140 (orange) --> Recently painted into Transport for NSW livery. Based at Busways Glendenning depot. Fleet#1048. It is ex CDI-12. The demonstrator at the Moonee River Victorian Bus Show. Announced by NSW transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian that m/o-5140 will operate the T75- Blacktown to Rouse Hill Town Centre Route from the 27th of August.

1048 Was a ex PTC Sydney Leyland Atlantean which has ended up at Yarra Valley capers Kilsyth VIC.I must admit the CDi does look good in that livery.

Love the tree deflector on the near side upper corner, reminds me of a mine cable cutter on a Type 7 UBoat! Don't think it will save the body work in George st City where tree trunks hang into the traffic lane plus all the other roadside ephemera that buses have to avoid on a daily basis. Plus it didn't stop whoever was driving to lean the bus firmly against that small tree- just for the photo.

Does anyone have some specs on the cab layout of these beasts? Interested to know what monitors are provided for the driver to keep tabs on the upper deck, stairs and centre door area.

Does anyone IN THE KNOW(not speculate), know if the "Please Hail Driver" sticker, obscures the view in the NS mirror. Looks like it chops off the top view of the mirror, which is where most would be looking to see if they're scraping the top window-line

Somebody in RMS/DoT must have worked out that it was running in the Metro area so it went from 5140 MO (country) to M/O 5064 (metro).

In most Bustechs, the NS mirrior is viewed through the 1/4 window.

Thx Dave. Looking at it again, the mirror does appear close to the body, similar to our CB60s here in Hobart. Cheers

Never been a fan of stickers of any sort applied to windscreens. I would find that "Hail Driver sign annoying", even though it would act as a small sun visor at certain times of the day. I recall when large stickers were applied to the top of both windscreens on STA buses as a promotion for the cricket in the very early 90s, can't recall what series of cricket it was as cricket is possibly the most boring human endeavour in the universe!! Every day you see cars with stickers of all shapes and sizes applied to front and rear screens in the most ridiculously unsafe places such as the clown I saw yesterday with a large "Bulldogs" club shield stuck right in the middle of his rear screen almost completely covering the middle stop light! Or the idiots with all sorts of good luck charms, chains, rosary beads, girlfriends knickers and other crap hanging from the rear view mirror post. What these clowns don't realise is that at 100 or so meters that rubbish can block from view a motorcycle, pedestrian or bicycle.

The small object blocking a large one from view at distance law was used to great advantage by the WW1 German fighter ace Oswald Boelke. His trick was to attack allied aircraft down sun holding a thumb up to block the sun!
