Eynesbury community bus changes (2013)

Post by PaxInfo »

(old news but a scoop for ATDB nevertheless)

The Eynesbury community website at http://www.eynesburyonline.com.au/ has an enticing item about their community bus. The headline scrolls quickly in their community news section. The item isn't public and you need to sign up and log on to view.

However googling on Eynesbury Community bus provides the following item: http://www.eynesburyonline.com.au/index ... &Itemid=87
EYNESBURY COMMUNITY BUS
The Community Bus Service that was initiated by the Developer on 22 April 2013 will be modified in response to the lack of patronage by residents of Eynesbury.

From tomorrow 28 May 2013 the service will NOT be running to Bacchus Marsh or the Melton Bus Exchange or the Melton South Railway Station.

The Eynesbury Bus Service will be carrying passengers from Eynesbury to Exford Primary School and Staughton College in the morning, and from those destinations back to Eynesbury in the afternoons. Arrival and departure times remain unchanged.
So it's essentially a school service, day shopper patronage apparently being insufficient to be worthwhile (after a month's trial).

Further digging revealed a school bus timetable which can be viewed at http://www.eynesburyonline.com.au/index ... &Itemid=86

A more direct link to the three routes involved is at: http://www.eynesburyonline.com.au/image ... e_2013.pdf

The Eynesbury Examiner October/November 2012 had an article about the Exford school service http://www.eynesbury.com.au/_content/do ... v-2012.pdf

FUN FACT: Did you know that separate letter boxes are banned in Eynesbury? Instead they must be built in to the front fence/wall. See the design guidelines from a link above.

Eynesbury's developer is having another go at running a community (as opposed to school) bus service.

Facebook page thread here:

Timetable (which isn't very well set out) is via here: https://eynesbury.com.au/explore/things-to-do/

Eynesbury's bus took a break during our most recent lockdown.

But it's back with extra school holiday services.

Now it's roughly an hourly service from 1pm to 7pm weekdays.

Hence one can easily make a day trip from Melton to Eynesbury provided you can find something to do for an hour until the next one.

Details including a timetable here: https://eynesbury.com.au/wp-content/upl ... etable.png

If it wasn't for Eynesbury only having one road in and out, you could more practically service it via bus as part of a through route from Melton to Werribee via Wyndham Vale, however there is no road connection from Eynesbury to Ballan Rd towards the south.

As the crow flies, the southern-most street in Eynesbury is only 7km away from the Geelong line, however to access the closest station on that line via road would be a 27km drive to Tarneit.

Apparently there is a road link being constructed, as per https://wyndham.starweekly.com.au/news/ ... -approved/, which may make such a service possible in the future. I'm surprised that the locals of the area aren't strongly opposed to it though, given that they may have to tolerate through traffic through their cul-de-sac of a suburb in the future.
