There has been a call a few minutes ago to Dee Dee's afternoon show on 3AW, and the caller has mentioned seeing a freight train running along the Seymour Line corridor around Wallan. Has anyone seen this or any activity lately on the line, particularly the Standard gauge tracks?

I'm a bit disappointed that there don't appear to be any pix of the Wallan XPT recovery on this site.

I don't understand the "taste" reference. Clearing damaged rail vehicles from derailment sites is a delicate task, worth documenting. I note that Rail Express is carrying some images.

D2 5021 ended up in the dirt on Dandenong Rd today, blocking both directions.

Saw a 3 car Sprinter going through Melton on Thursday shortly after 1:00, heading towards Bacchus Marsh. As far as I'm aware, there are no timetabled Sprinter services at all on the Ballarat line. It must have been filing in for a VLocity.

On the 15th, Citadis 3011 finally moved under its own power after 9 months according to wongm's Tram Detective. Presumably it was only a test run as it hasn't moved since.
