Lower Hunter Freight Corridor

Post by lunchbox »

Transport for NSW has opened public consultation on the recommended corridor for the Lower Hunter Freight Corridor. The future rail link will lie between Fassifern and Hexham, bypassing the Newcastle urban area. The corridor will "provide for" a future dedicated freight railway.
The consultation period will end on Tuesday 17 August 2021.

Trying to access the link, or even the home page, I'm getting "Request Header Or Cookie Too Large" message.

Anyone else tried it?

Seems to mostly run next to the M1 corridor.

Seems like a useful idea, however I wonder if the justification for it takes into account the anticipated reduction of through freight on this route after inland rail opens?

I suppose there's no actual funding for this now, the main effort is to preserve the corridor as part of the project to extend the M1/F3 freeway?
