Railway workers deserve to strike where there is unjust conditions or remuneration rises , but I do not support tactics to make rail journeys as long or even longer than rail replacement bus service journeys.

To be fair, almost most early morning trains and late night trains run all stops anyway, except they run over 60km/h where permitted but sometimes they only run to 60km/or not not much higher due to weather or minimum standards due to issues on train

Looking at a few of the schedules, "all stops" seems to be more "all platforms the train passes"
eg. T4 and T8 trains making stops at St Peters and Erskineville platforms (T8 being diverted via Sydenham due to trackwork on the Airport line), T1 Western trains stopping at Croydon platform 1 westbound etc.
(Though won't St Peters and Erskineville end up being serviced by T4 trains anyway once the Bankstown line starts getting converted for the metro?).
"It's my way or the (side of the) highway".
Might be a way to lead life, but more like the way that some people drive.

It's curious that L1 services will be stopped but not L2 and L3.

I thought of that, but same employer, Transdev. Not sure if its like Transit Systems which has employees belonging to both unions.

Note: The link above has been updated to reflect a further stoppage on Tuesday 28 September instead of the original stoppage yesterday 25 September.
This explained my confusion as L1 was not mentioned in the original.

There is a map of replacement bus services during the industrial action tomorrow. It is surprisingly detailed for a one-day event.

From Ch 10 tonight, it was mentioned that L1 drivers are on lower rates than CSE because their mainly off-road driving is less stressful!

From the Telegraph today:
Almost 60 light rail staff running the Inner West Light Rail services will join them [train drivers] between 7am-9am and 3pm-5pm today, which is likely to put an intense strain on mobility for people moving in and out of the city.

“We apologise to everyone who will be impacted by workers taking industrial action today. This is the last thing we want to do,” President of RTBU NSW Tram and Bus Division Daniel Jaggers.

“Workers have tried everything to make Transdev management play fair without impacting the public. Our fight is not with the public.

“All we ask is that Transdev gives all its light rail employees equal pay for equal work, and a fair go at their career. It’s not a lot to ask.”

Tram workers at the Pyrmont depot claim that industrial action has been undertaken as the last resort to repair the “massive disparity” between the pay and conditions of Sydney’s two light rail depots.

The RTBU hopes sealing a fair deal with rail operator Transdev will stop Pyrmont workers being treated as the “Forgotten Depot”.

“Transdev operates both Sydney’s light rail depots but its pays workers at one more than the other for doing the exact same job. It gives drivers at one depot better career prospects and opportunities for faster advancement,” Mr Jaggers said.

“It’s outrageous that a big company like Transdev is trying to get away with this kind of double-dealing. Workers at Pyrmont call it ‘The Forgotten Depot’, and they refuse to be forgotten any longer.”

Like the airline industry.
Bigger plane, bigger pay.

How does the LR contract compare to bus and train drivers?

these types of justifications are ridiculous. It's a duck if it quacks regardless how loud or softly it quacks...

Yes, weekday timetable (with some adjustments) resuming from Monday.

Union plans for further industrial action this week: https://rtbuexpress.com.au/rail-strike- ... ike-again/
Rail strike: Silence from transport management forces rail workers to strike again
NSW rail workers have been forced to take industrial action again this month, following senior management at NSW Trains and Sydney Trains’ continued refusal to meet with workers to negotiate fair wages and conditions, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) NSW says.

Neither senior management nor the Transport Minister have attended any negotiation meetings, despite the enterprise agreement expiring more than five months ago.

Sticking issues in the new enterprise agreement include a refusal to rule out further privatisation of transport services and jobs and a refusal to commit to a continued high standard of cleaning on our trains.

The union is alerting the public to serious service disruptions on Wednesday 20 October when train crew will refuse to operate privately built trains.**

A two-week ban on workers’ working overtime will also commence next week from Monday 25 October, during which trains will likely be forced to run at a reduced timetable.

Major disruption is expected. People should consider driving tomorrow then.

I seriously hope Transport for NSW announce plans to aggressively convert every Sydney Train line into driverless, guardless Metro, so that staff costs can be reduced and there will be no more strikes.

Nothing like supporting employment out there in the industry. Self-serve public transport, the way to go (not) :-(
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !
