^ December 20. There might be a further announcement on the transport info website on Friday December 4 or the timetables will simply just become available on Sunday December 6.

Interesting, the name for the overnight B Line service is BN1 and not simply B1.

Seems to be that the 159 (now 177) no longer diverts via Dee Why Beach.

The 178, 179 and 180 will operate to/from inside Warringah Mall rather than the Pittwater Rd stop, this makes sense as there wouldn't be enough layover space otherwise and with the 132 and 135 no longer operating to/from inside Warringah Mall there should be enough space. There'll still be interchange with the B-Line at Dee Why.

The transportnsw.info webpage lists this as Manly to North Head, which would make sense as a loop service.

Timetables have now been released on transportnsw.info. A lot of the feeder services frequency alters according to demand during the day on weekends (ie 178 every 20 mins till 11am southbound then every 60 mins).

Also, 160X is only going to run hourly during some parts of the day, off peak and on weekends despite its initial announcement that it’ll be turn up and go.

It's not every 60 minutes, it's bad phrasing. It's on the hour every 60 minutes.

Is B1 meant to be an all night service? The 20201220 TT shows the last trip being 0033 hrs in most instances.

Some things of note:
Route 114 (Balmoral Beach to RNS Hospital) will inherit the split routing of route 257 around the Crows Nest area (albeit a modified routing) - RNS bound services will run via Falcon Street, Alexander Street, Burlington Street, Willoughby Road, Albany Street before returning to the Pacific Hwy. Balmoral-bound 114 services run direct via Pac Hwy and Falcon Street. Compared with the current half-hourly service on route 257, frequencies on the new 114 will be increased to provide a service every 20 minutes.

Off-peak and weekend services on route 172X (Wynyard to Warringah Mall via Nth Balgowlah) run to an hourly frequency.
https://transportnsw.info/documents/tim ... 201220.pdf
Most daytime 199 services now run between Manly and Palm Beach, instead of alternating services terminating/originating at Avalon.

With Route 245 being axed from 20/12/2020, there doesn't seem to be a replacement for any of the services from Mosman Junction to Balmoral Beach.

Route 238 isn't running more frequently either.

Current situation on Saturdays:
  • Route 257: Every 20 min
  • Route 245: Practically every 60 min (with some additional insertions to adjust for beachgoers?)
  • Route 238: Every 20 min
That results in at least one bus every 10 min from Mosman Junction to Balmoral Beach, and Route 245 boosts that by 1 bus per hour or so, taking it to up to 12 buses/hr.

From 20/12/2020:
  • Route 114: Every 20 min
  • Route 245: gone.
  • Route 238: Every 20 min
With buses coming out of Balmoral being quite full, I wonder how the interchanging will function at Mosman Junction? Will people just wait for a 114 and ignore the 238?

The loss of the 245 will affect me - I enjoy visiting Balmoral and a one-seat ride from Wynyard is ideal, despite the low frequency, I would plan around it. While it was never standing room only, it was always well enough patronised. I wonder what the excuse is?

Absorbed into Route 100. More frequent, single route number services instead of 244/245/247 combinations.

There is also potentially merit in terms of having this single route all the way to Mosman Junction - that people actually headed to Balmoral Beach from Wynyard in the peaks, might not be entirely crowded out by just Military Road/Spit Jn customers.

Based on the October 25 changes, it appears that Transport may issues further supplementary advice about changes to other operators in a seperate release. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did the same for this, and Forest was to over the lost ground of the 136.
Given nothing has been announced relating to this part of Chatswood currently served by the 136, was patronage that light that they aren't going to change this at all, or maybe there's other reasons for not changing things at least in time for this round of changes?
Only other bus I can think of that goes anywhere near this area is the 275, which is more a shopper's service than anything else, not counting the existing services on Eastern Valley Way and Boundary St.

Crikey - on the weekends, EVERY 15 min into the Saturday night except for 0342 - 0412 ex QVB?

What are these people doing in the middle of the night, shuttling between Mona Vale and the QVB?!?

...... Darn.

So the 151 is going. That’s the end of an era, its been around for as long as I can remember! Overnight bendy buses, and also Manly will lose its direct connection with the CBD for all overnight services.

I walked past a 151 service starting at the QVB the other night, I think it was one of the first of the night and it was absolutely packed full.

B1 running all night sounds like a good idea though for simplicity reasons

The Transport Info web page displays route 243 as only receiving minor changes to the timetable. This route has actually been modified to become a local feeder service between Spit Jct. and Neutral Bay Jct. with AM inbound services extending to Wynyard and PM outbound trips commencing from Wynyard.

When I used to have to get the bus from Wynyard to Neutral Bay Junction in the morning from work, the times I saw a 243 service pull up they were poorly patronised, and I think the driver would get sick of answering "Do you go to Spit Junction" with something like "I go the long way around to get there".

Probably didn't help the 243 would run within 5 minutes of a Military/Spit Road service like a 244 or 180 service, which would sometimes fill all the seats at Wynyard, so not surprised they've cut back that route.
