Is it being operated as a loop service? In via Bathurst and out via Druitt?
I honestly can't tell from the network map. When the timetables are released, we will know.
As M50 does not have a terminus/layover in the city, I think it makes sense for 503 to operate as a loop. There won't be enough space for layover otherwise.

There used to be a terminus in Bathurst St between George and Pitt. The stop is still there, I think only used now by the Explorer bus (is it still running?)

Some of the trips have been uploaded to Trip Planner -- proper timetables aren't out yet though.

503 is confirmed to be a loop service, with two bus stops along Bathurst St (before Sussex St, and the aforementioned stop after George St).

466 is also a loop service off-peak.

430 northbound, 440 eastbound and the bus routes currently stopping at Hay St opp Belmore Park will be moved to Pitt St at Barlow St. This should improve the interchange with Haymarket Light Rail stop.

Bus routes currently terminating at Pitt St at Barlow St will be moved to Pitt St before Hay St.

However, I find it strange that 430 southbound will be moved from Castlereagh St to Elizabath St, removing the synergy with other Newton bus routes.

Not sure where this idea comes from, as the "new" network map (*) on the same page that lists the other changes shows the 430 south on Castlereagh St, but north on Elizabeth St from Eddy Ave, which is what it does now.

That, and I think there is no right turn provision from Park St eastbound to Elizabeth St southbound, hence the reason the 430 (and 320) have to turn right on Castlereagh St anyway.

That's what I discovered by fast forwarding to 25 Oct 2020. Of course it could be a data error that will get fixed later.

Those additional 525/526 weekend services plying between DFO/Olympic Park Station and Strathfield are still there. Takes the frequency to around one bus every 6 min on average (10 services/hr) between DFO and Strathfield Station!

Having said that, still no official change to the timetable.

The new timetables are due on 11 October - two weeks ahead - that is all the software can handle.
In fact they may be there now but suppressed until the two weeks is reached.

There are changes to some other regions, also in the same page with IW changes.

Oops. Looks like a few of these TTs will need amendment.
  • Route 450 TT for 12/10 - 24/10 shows weekday daytime services boosted to 15 min, when in fact it only commences from 25/10.
  • Route 461X TT shows "Night time service"

440 will be rerouted via "Pitt St at Barlow St" to improve light rail interchange but the map is not updated. :?

I honestly can't tell from the network map. When the timetables are released, we will know.
According to the new route maps for 25/10, 503 services will operate as a loop upon arrival at Town Hall, using Bathurst Street EB, left Elizabeth and left Park before returning to Drummoyne via Druitt Street and the WD.

The new 437 will operate and terminate in the same arrangement of the 442, upon arrival and departure at the QVB from 25/10:

Pretty disappointed with the new Burwood to City Hyde Park (Night Service) 461N.

It doesn't extend the hours by any significant amount to the existing 461 service. Its misleading when other N routes (such as 420N 520) provide an approximately hourly service throughout the night.

On my wish list was also for it to be extended to Strathfield to connect with the various night riders that go via there.

The change has been reversed.

Only terminating 440 services will use "Pitt St at Barlow St". The services to Bondi will use Eddy Ave, which forces passengers to cross the road for light rail interchange.

The 201, 202, 204, 205, 206, 206, 207 & 263 will no longer be picking up from Loftus St, the first stop out of city will be Bridge St just before George St. 208 will also move from Gresham St to George St.

The 305 is missing from the advertised changes. There have been bus stop relocations and closures because of westconnex in recent months. The new timetable shows the 305 no longer serving Kent Rd and Coward St.

Whinge fest from my own local clowncil.

Whinging about it less than 1 week from its implementation when it's been public knowledge for a while.

They lost me at this point:
"I remind the cmmunity that earlier this year we stood with our community and Member for Drummoyne John Sidoti to reject changes to ferry services that would have severed the direct link to the City for our residents."

Apparently Barangaroo isn't part of the City?

Well, it's at the fringe of the city. Same deal with "RAILWAY SQUARE" buses - it doesn't carry a CITY designation.

The only time that "RAILWAY SQUARE" terminating buses carried a CITY designation was prior to 2015 when the buses ran through the city.

Typical mentality of Sydneysiders. It doesn't go to the city - it just stops at the fringe - therefore it's not good enough.

(Nevermind that the 464 now runs every 10 min in the peak and 15 off peak, and provides a consistent journey to Burwood to interchange for the train, which is far quicker)

The same council that whinged about the ferries no longer calling at Bayview Park, strangely not mentioning the fact that the 502 "City" bus will no longer go to the same Bayview Park...?
I wonder if it's because of the low patronage in the first place that now it's a 466 local bus that goes up Burwood Road to Bayview Park instead - oddly the same area that the on-demand service does not cover based on the new region map.

As for the Gipps St/Bayview St complaints, I think the councillor needs to look at the map a bit more closely.
There is only one pair of bus stops that might be mildly inconvenienced - being the ones halfway up Bayview St - as the nearest stop to the north is around about 500m away (for the 502), but Gipps St itself runs parallel to Parramatta Road for the most part and is about 250-300m away, which will get the 461X.
(Even though it's in the "on-demand" zone, I'm not sure if that operates during peak periods).

Can't please everybody now.

Their gripe is obviously no direct bus from Concord to Gipps St. They don't care about the 461X - it goes into neighbouring Burwood Council which isn't their patch. All a bit territorial.

In all honesty I think the routes that have been changed are all due to Opal travel patterns. Whilst the government would've had grand plans from Sydney's Bus Future, some of these changes certainly didn't fall into that category, and the Opal travel patterns would've unearthed far more data than just route planners sitting there guessing.

This weekend some Scania buses at Kingsgrove are moving to Leichhardt which will be very squashy unless some buses at Leichhardt are moved elsewhere.
