Spotted a very stylish looking demonstrator Bonluck Double Decker coach passing through the Blue Mountains this evening.
All over burgundy colour. Sorry no photo to share.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Does Hillsbus now have a major excess of 14.5m buses? Most 601 services I've observed today (I don't usually head out there) are run by 14.5s!
Wouldn't have thought the route warranted such large buses even during the off peaks.

Re: Private Observations 2019
You are missing the point- with the STA regions to be tendered next year, this would be something left to the new operator if there is one, to be sorted out.Swift wrote:Pax on the 400 who can't get a seat or even get on would differ.Fleet Lists wrote:Not worth the trouble now.

In that case lets hope CDC wins the R9 contract and is allowed to transfer excess 14.5s east. I feel like they'd fit in perfectly at Port Botany and on the 400.Fleet Lists wrote:You are missing the point- with the STA regions to be tendered next year, this would be something left to the new operator if there is one, to be sorted out.Swift wrote: Pax on the 400 who can't get a seat or even get on would differ.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Sticking VSTMs on the 400 is a criminal act to my eyes and relying on 12m buses for the rest is a summary offence and demonstrates incompetence to run region 9.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Busabout 5997 was seen on Wednesday with a faulty front door, taking the driver numerous presses of the button to open or close it, while still sending the doors opening/closing messages throughout the bus.
Busabout's 6118 was seen on Thursday with a faulty Mobitec display, showing on all displays a 896 to Oran Park despite running a school run instead.
Both are MAN 18.320 Bustech VST's, with 5997 being a Voith and 6118 a ZF EcoLife

Re: Private Observations 2019
Bidders will most likely be required to formulate their tenders based on using the legacy State Transit fleet, much like happened in region 6 and Newcastle. Any extra buses proposed over and above this will just add to the cost base and lessen the chance of a tender being successful.J_Busworth wrote:In that case lets hope CDC wins the R9 contract and is allowed to transfer excess 14.5s east. Re: Private Observations 2019
I think the question about time of post meant to ask whether it was happening at the time of post - not what else may be happening at the time of post.
This type of post needs to be more specific ie what time/day did it happen, what operator and possibly what make of bus and as it appears in this case that it is a bus in Metrobus livery.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Presuming the answer to my last question was yes - meaning the observation occurred live as it was being posted, the full rail bus appears to show the phenomenon of high weekend traffic volumes these days driving people to turn to public transport has spread west.
Very interesting.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Presumably today, and up to 08.55.
Some TRBs at Penrith this afternoon Usually these services run from the north side of the station. Today the express services were shown as both T1 and BM route numbers

Re: Private Observations 2019
Train replacement buses at Penrith now operate from the Bus Interchange rather than the carpark side of the station and have done so since the last shutdown.

Re: Private Observations 2019
Here's another fact about those two Busabout MANs m/o 5997 was formally at Busways with a number in the 11xx number range but I can't remember what the exact fleet number was and m/o 6118 was apart of the mass Busabout/Transport For NSW order for the 2014 region 15 contractouchmychin wrote:Both are MAN 18.320 Bustech VST's, with 5997 being a Voith and 6118 a ZF EcoLife

Re: Private Observations 2019
Looked like buses are going to the north side to lay up. Notice numerous movements during the day, and 3 parked in the rank about 4pmBjwh86 wrote:Train replacement buses at Penrith now operate from the Bus Interchange rather than the carpark side of the station and have done so since the last shutdown.
