There are two Sutherland Shire bus operators of the 1950's I previously knew nothing about. They are John Ross Kelly at Engadine on route 44 and W.Meredith on Caringbah to Gymea on route 139.

John Ross Kelly began the Engadine bus route 44 in July 1947 and was in service until sold to Hadfield in September 1952. I only know of one bus he had which was a normal control Bedford m/o 029 which was previously with Blyth's of Bexley. Were there any other buses with John Ross Kelly?

W.Meredith began the Caringbah to Gymea bus route 139 in February 1956 and was in service until sold to Kogarah Bus Service in June 1959. I am unaware of the buses operated by W.Meredith.

I would be interested if anyone can provide me with details of the buses belonging to these operators.

hugh45 i have a registration recorded of m/o 484 on a forward control Reo for Meredith but the only Kelly i have on record is J.J. Kelly who operated the Wollongong to Bellambi service and i photographed his m/o 6168 an Albion with a Syd Wood FC body at Wollongong Station on 3/5/60. I have no record when his service finished but the 6168 plate was later on a 1962 AEC IV underfloor of Rutty.

I assume it is Ron Ison who is being discussed. If so, see
