I think laptop15 has probably hit the nail on the head. Pretty obvious that they aren't the most sophisticated suburbs around.

TP-1592, seems Mr. OCB is right, you obviously don't get past Armadale Rd much... There aren't any troublesome western suburbs. Nedlands, Claremont, Floreat, City Beach, Dalkeith, Swanbourne, Cottesloe, Mosman Park, North Fremantle, Fremantle. Don't really have much trouble around $1m Mansions etc.. now, do ya?

OK, B-1809, have YOU lived in Armadale for 12 years? Because I have! And Armadale is NOT S**T! ( No offence to you Mr OCB, Your opinion is fine. ) I haven't seen or heard any bulls**t in Armadale for years now!
I've seen trouble in the Western suburbs ( remember the Craig Puddy death? I hope you do ). Also Eastern suburbs, Northern Suburbs and Southern suburbs have trouble. No where in Perth ( and WA ) will anyone see any trouble. You do get trouble in South-Eastern suburbs, but not Armadale. I have my list of bad suburbs around Perth, but I would like to not post them on ATDB.
But I have this advice for YOU B-1809, stay in all the suburbs you put on your list, and then see if they still crap.

Cheers!

Let's see here...

Last time I checked, Commerce Avenue, where a certain sWAn Transit Driver was attacked, is in... ARMADALE...

Also, one of my best friends was doing a 250 earlier this week and was abused (called every name under the sun for something that wasn't their fault) in a suburb called... ARMADALE.

Next time you decide to have a go at me, maybe consider the fact that I have traveled around enough in the last 10 years to have an idea of what areas are dodgy and what aren't

I remember back in the '90s, one of the local community newspapers would show that week's home burglaries stats for the Canning(ish) area and Armadale was always in the top 3.

You have low and inexperienced expectations... Obviously you haven't lived anywhere else? Because if you think Armadale is not dog sh!t then you obviously haven't seen any suburbs which are easily better... Even Lockridge as bogan as it is, is better than Armadale.

You're contradicting yourself kid. Saying that you have gotten around places other than Armadale yet saying you've lived in Armadale for 12 years. How can you make a verdict that Armadale is not dog sh!t when you haven't lived anywhere else? I mean, sure there are worse suburbs than Armadale (even around Australia), but Armadale is up there in the top list. And your diary entries in the Transperth Diaries in the WA section has a majority of routes being Kelmscott-Armadale feeders.

This reminds me of the time I was in NZ walking through a rough area of south Auckland trying to get to a bus depot. All cameras in bag, valuables secured and locked, bullet proof vest on, then walk... Don't want to mess with any of that mob.

Well, he's either sitting behind the computer, or doing a death run (i.e. Kelmscott-Armadale routes).

Obviously your... WRONG!
I've lived in Walpole for 4 years, Esperance for 18 months and Armadale the rest. I've also been up north and... Halls Creak, Pippengarra and Sandfire Roadhouse is WORST than Armadale!

Cheers!

Melbourne:

Laverton - run down/undesirable ex-housing commission area. Only reason why anybody goes there is people from nicer suburbs a couple of kilometres away drive there to catch a train.

Dandenong - same reasons as OP, never liked the vibe of the place, might be better in the future after redevelopments

Roxburgh Park/Craigieburn area - outer suburbia, no redeeming features of any type.

St Kilda - might have been cool/edgey at one stage, now just a tacky place where smelly Eurotrash backpackers go as do tourists from outer suburbs/interstate/overseas, locals hang out at other less tacky & more authentic streets. Also still has the druggie skanks of Grey St which would have to be a turn-off to those not completely desperate.

They're not all bad. Albert Park and Middle Park are among Melbourne's most expensive and well-serviced suburbs. The ones in Sydney are all vile, however.
Noble Park ain't bad either. I like it here.

Based on the number of not so nice things that happen in Noble Park it doesn't seem like the nicest place. Abusive internet trolls from there are just the very tip of the iceberg.

I also wouldn't say Loganlea, Beenleigh or Kingston are in Brisbane... they are in LOGAN. Also Kunda park doesn't fit in.

What's your point, does it matter what local council they are in? They're still part of the Brisbane metropolitan area.

No they aren't, they are in South East Queensland. I suppose by your logic the Gold Coast is in the Brisbane Metro area?

And HBU, I know you included the sunny coast, I just want some substance to your claims as to why the particular suburb is no good?

It basically is. You have to go 10 or so km south of Tweed Heads before you're back in farmland. Before there it's mostly built up urban area from the big service centre on the side of the highway at Chinderah right into the middle of the Brisbane CBD. Just because it's an actual independent city doesn't mean it falls under another nearby city's metropolitan area.
