When I suggested to the American Rail Club that Sydney/Melbourne should have an internationally standard maglev guideway they replied that maglev was the future of rail.

Got an email from the International Maglev board saying China, Russia, Brazil, America and Germany are working on Maglev but I think the proven Japanese SC maglev is the way to go and definitely not EMS for high speed.

Now both sides are promising real jobs for the bush I wonder if either one will order the 20 TBM for Parrahub/Canberra off China to restore trade with them.

It is not what you do but how you do it.

Printing more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLmlJp9obd0 can be good if used to build infrastructure but no good if it only creates a bubble on housing and stocks as the Return On Investment means you pay more for rent and baked beans.

The Sydney Opera House was supposed to cost $7m with completion in 1963 but ended up costing $102m with completion in 1973 resulting in politicians being afraid to announce anything that may take five years or cost $20b

If Parrahub/Canberra is in a single straight $20b tunnel it could not have a truck or bus on the line or need any security.

I know the Parrahub building would not start until a decision was made to build stage one of the Sydney/Melbourne maglev but once the 20 TBM are ordered prefabricated units could be built while the excavation took place allowing it to be built fast like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg7F7nG0PKw

When I started in the coal mine we were using mechanical shell anchors from South Africa on our roof bolts and later when chemical anchors were being introduced we were so sceptical that we did not believe the 20t jacks were stretching the bolts but just pulling them through the glue.

After hearing high tensile bolts snapping when the weight came on them and seeing a 20t machine hung on one bolt I was convinced how good they were.

The difficulty with large TBM is preventing overbreak in the crown and this has been dealt with here https://www.robbinstbm.com/projects/nia ... l-project/ by using 9m pipes but once they were in good ground it set a world record of 468m in one month.

As directional drilling has advanced so much I think if a couple of kilometres were drilled in advance at the crown it would indicate future ground, water, gas and then pumped full of chemical to prevent any overbreak allowing the 20 hardrock TBM to complete the single drive in just two years.

Perhaps a cable stayed tower crane may be the best shot for installing the prefabricated units. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ ... ower-crane

As I have no money I asked a nice guy from a Penrith tower crane factory if he thought the Parrahub tower crane was possible with the counterweight automatically moving to maintain the balance as the hook weight was slowly increased/decreased.

He replied that he honestly did not know

We would need to review design and conduct engineering calculations.

Many factors to take into consideration especially Australian Standard requirements.

As the future of Australia is influenced by innovation I sent an email to SCOMO asking if he could provide Troy with the finance to develop and approve the world first cable stayed tower crane. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ ... ower-crane

When you see how expensive and slow conventional trains are having a single maglev tunnel Sydney/Melbourne makes sense.

With 5376 units in Parrahub surely there would be sufficient income to give these poor guys a substantial unit each?

This was my response to their email.

Hi
The federal government is printing hundreds of billions to support jobkeeper and jobseeker and remain competitive with other nations doing likewise so $4b to order 20 hardrock TBM from China is relatively very little especially as it will create many tax paying jobs and perhaps return our trade with them.

The moment these TBM are ordered Parrahub would be taken seriously but until then it is just an idea from an old man with no money that would connect it to Canberra while providing many maintenance free large units for elderly people to buy for $2m each.

Originally I had thought of auto alley but it would create huge disruption and there may be opposition from home owners even if recompensed handsomely but you people would have a far better idea of that.

I think many people would vote for either side of politics that commit to stage one of Sydney/Melbourne maglev including me.

Parrahub/Canberra would be a great investment opportunity for pension funds because with operating cost not subject to the unpredictability of fuel cost or general inflation profits would increase year on year.

I agree with Sonia at 41 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE0s80PChVU compared to printing a couple of hundred billion for jobkeeper/jobseeker half a billion is peanuts.

Thanks Anne
To avoid disruption in auto alley Parrahub http://www.parrahub.org.au/ is now further west and I also think being so close to the M4 and with the Japanese maglev to Canberra airport the rail to WSA is no longer required.

This is the comment I put in the American rail club https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtXqSG0jblU&t=2883s

You seem almost in despair but I want to encourage you that America can go faster and cheaper than the Chinese HSR because it can avoid all the legal and disruption problems by putting Japanese maglev in single tunnels that do 700 km/h due to only 11 psi atmosphere and the absence of any maintenance can take overnight containers which bring in big bucks.

It all depends if Australia wants to develop Parrahub/Canberra and demonstrate how it can be cheaper than service roads, bridges, fences and security that is required on the surface.

This recent study in China shows how much better free face rock cutting is compared to the basic 70 year old way of present day TBM https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 9820306738

As China is the biggest TBM builder with a few companies I decided to send this email to the guy in South Korea who knows all about new technology.

In Australia there are many restrictions to surface maglev but without service roads, bridges, fences and purchase of land a single large single tunnel could allow the proven Japanese maglev to achieve 700km/h in 11psi atmosphere Parrahub/Canberra

As China is intent on developing faster TBM with second free face technology https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 9820306738 perhaps they may want to participate in this.

This is my comment

Just a few possibilities

The guideway should be of international standard large enough to carry westerners and containers overnight which can then be transferred to smaller trucks for direct delivery.

As long as the escape is faster than planes and the lack of any combustible material the speed would allow the train to stop at the launch sites 20 kilometres apart which as well as having exhaust valves to keep the 11 psi would have emergency lifts.

Because there is no need for so many escape lifts the blockage percentage can be decreased resulting in less tunnel resistance than the Japanese horseshoe shaped tunnels especially as perhaps there is no need for twin track with passing at stations.

Perhaps they would in future connect all the USA with maglev depending if second free face TBM allow one kilometre a week.

Maglev in America may not stack up as there are too many stations to allow 700km/h but in Australia with 700,000 B doubles every night between Sydney/Melbourne https://pacificnational.com.au/australi ... ig-trucks/ with only Canberra and Albury passing stations, I believe that it could be economically viable when overnight containers are included.

There could be sidings on the outskirts of cities where instead of the B doubles transferring to rigid trucks for delivery as now is the case the containers would be unloaded/loaded for an even faster overall delivery time.
