Drivers is an MC7 (Challenger) not a 9.

There are no MCIs left in active service but there are a number out there roaming as motor homes.

Just to expand on the topic I am on the lookout for an ex Greyhound Series 5 Silver Eagle. Is there one that hasn't been converted to a motorhome.

To highwaytraveller 97% of the eagle coaches that came to aussieland are now motorhomes or scrapped good look luck with your find of a seated 05 eagle

It is a real shame. The Eagles where a major part of our Express Coach industry during its heyday.

At least Ansett Pioneer brought three types of MCI coaches to Australia the MCI 7,MCI 8 and the 11 MCI 9s.With the MCI 9 that is why you won`t see many of them with such a small number of them some could of been scrapped and some converted to motor-homes.

Here is a photo taken a few years ago of an MC9, ex GPA 841, when owned by Purser's Coaches, Murgon, Queensland. Purser's had the rest room removed and extra seats fitted, bringing it up to a 53 seater. This was a very nice coach to drive, and held the road extremely well. :D

This photo was given to me by a Greyhound driver in 1995, taken at their "Bone Yard" in Brisbane's western suburbs. Decommissioned Eagle 05's and MC8's waiting to be sold off. Parked further back (out of shot) was some old Tourmasters and Volgrens. This was at a time when GPA was a little run down and some of the fleet didn't look all that good, a sad end to some mighty fine coaches.

This is where my unit was acquired from Craig - when did you sell off your Eagle's mate - I remember the Eagles at Roma Street on occasion when they were with Greyhound and these always looked great!

Stew.
This MCI is for sale though a dealer in Melbourne. See http://www.busandcoachsales.com.au/OurStock.html A fairly detailed description of it is there plus interior & exterior pics. It was listed at one stage for $88000 (from memory) but now back up to $110,000 - certainly there is plenty of negotiability in the price. :)

On the same site is a Series 5 Eagle, complete with pictures, but it is listed as sold.

Chris, back on deck now... time to post of few more photos... I sold the Eagles a few years ago now. Queensland Transport age policy took care of that. 05 went in 1997. and the 10 went around 2007. Did well with the 10 ran it for 12 years and sold it for what I'd paid for it!

There is benefit in living in NZ as there is no age policy governing commecial vehicles so long as they can pass the requirements of the Land Transport Safety Authority Certificate of Fitness - I am going over my Domino to look for corrosion and cracking and where necessary will be using NDT where in doubt ( it is also very handy being a Certificed Welding Inspector as I can review and sign off on any required repairs and have the benefit of knowledge in the various compliance codes - is it the same right across Australia now for age policy or only in QLD?? :?

I have 2PC853, it has been a motorhome for several years but has hardly turned a wheel until now. Great bit of gear, solid reliable and able to keep up with big HP rigs even towing a 3.5t Land Rover Defender.
