Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
Northern Sydney Freight Corridor program was completed in 2016 with third down line opened between Epping and Thornleigh. There is a Stage 2 proposal to quad Rhodes to West Ryde and triple Thornleigh to Hornsby, but this is more to accommodate extra freight services than allowing for passenger serv...

Yes, along with a few others on the list. Balmain East's problem appears to have been with the sea wall rather than the wharf itself.

Let's not pretend that there wasn't an element of feather bedding, hence the NIFs are being de-specced.

Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
Assuming that it was seven kilometres that had its speed reduced from 160km/h to 115km/then that would have only added one minute to the journey time, if it were the full 20 kilometres from Blacktown to Penrith then it would be three minutes. And that is not factoring in the extra acceleration or de...

Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
So the RTBU's current opposition to the Bankstown line conversion (and to metro in general) has something to do with their operational working conditions, even though metro isn't affecting those or resulting in loss of jobs? RTBU has also been represented on the Administrative Committee of NSW Labo...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
They really need to address the issue of 1/2 hour frequencies at Arncliffe, Banksia, Carlton and Allawah. One of the proposals was for a 4tph all stops service (except Wolli Creek) from Hurstville to either the City Circle or Central that would have used the western pair of tracks. This would have ...

Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
The Sydney Trains network is to be progressively semi-automated to GoA2. What are you talking about? GoA2 isn’t full automation, it is partial automation with a driver remaining in situ. It is unlikely to be rolled out across the full network, being concentrated on the sections of the network close...

Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
This Sydney alignment is not as bad as you make it out to be. There are but a handful of straight sections east of Blacktown, but for much of their length the Main Suburban and Main Western lines meander. The real world today is automation. The real world is that the whole Sydney Trains network is ...

58 km Sydney suburban Emu Plains- Central: 21 stops, 75 minutes, average speed 46 km/h. Paris RER A Marne-La-Vallee - St-Germaine: 22 stops, 72 minutes, 49 km/h. Re: When will Sydney track speeds get back up to 130-160km/h
I am glad some trains, but not enough ex Macarthur trains for example skip Revesby, even though it is clearly served with plenty of empty running all stops trains. You do realise that the express services call at Revesby to allow passengers from west of there to change there for stations to the eas...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
According to Google satellite view, yes Kingsgrove does. Google maps is not reliable for up to date information as it is not in real time but a snapshot. For example the view of Bankstown station dates back to before construction of the metro platform commenced, which would make it several years ol...

Could not they do that after hours? Some of the earlier testing would have occurred after hours, but as it ramps up, testing needs to occur at all hours. At its zenith of the testing programme, the metro will be running 20 hours a day, seven days a week to replicate normal operations. It's not just...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
That second last paragraph has me puzzled. It's an error, Erskineville and St Peters will be served by T4 services making additional stops. A shake up of the line numbers is on the cards, with one suggestion being that the T3 designation will be used for all stops services from Hurstville that will...

Was the expiry date predicated on the anticipated life of the card, the chip, or data stability.? Possibly, the original nine years was probably a guesstimate as to how long cards would safely last before problems began to arise. With problems not having occurred, it has been decided to extend thei...

Nonetheless it is a superseded document, it will no longer be in the top draw of the transport minister, the 2022 one will be. That the new document omits a date is a tacit admission that it will not be complete by 2056 as the previous one suggested.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
The Future Transport Strategy is an evolution of the previous document but nonetheless the Future Transport 2056 document is redundant with the 2022 report stating it "replaces Future Transport 2056 Shaping the future". Not a case of being negative, but realistic. How many projects in that...
