Re: Potts Point trolleybus 1934-1948
If the road authorities are still that dense, it sounds like a great way to get around the legal restrictions on higher capacity buses that bedevil the industry here from time to time. Built a 30 tonne bus, connect it to overhead wires and suddenly it's a tram. Government departments in tho...

Re: Potts Point trolleybus 1934-1948
As they were classified as trams and not registered as a bus the axle laws of the day would have been irrelevant.
Does anyone have any information on what axle weight or equivalent laws were in force back then?

Re: Potts Point trolleybus 1934-1948
Buses didn't have the fleet number on their sides until WW2, so the number plate (on the rear) and the painted facsimile on the front are the only reference at that point in time. I really don't think there was much engineering of routes in the past as all PT vehicles were pretty much designed to go...

Re: Potts Point trolleybus 1934-1948
Thank you for filling in the memory gaps Rick R. No problems Tony, I know that the squealing of steel wheels and sparks from the overhead can result in memory loss issues :P :P :P Going back to the capacity issue, one of the mitigating facts would have been the maneuverability of vehicles across mo...

Re: Potts Point trolleybus 1934-1948
Both those vehicles in the photos appear to have single-wheel dual rear axles. Was this related to power delivery and/or motor configuration? (And was it a limitation, or an opportunity less available to fuel-engined vehicles?) I think the road regulations here would have followed UK practice (or i...

Fun Bus ???
Whilst driving on the Pac Hwy through Chatswood on Friday I was following what was obviously an Japanese built bus signwritten on the back for 'FUN BUS'. Registration was FUN.012 on NSW car plates. The RMS rego checker has it as 1987 WHITE U D NISSAN 00BUS BUS VIN/Chassis: ********0086 The registrat...

Re: (TfNSW / RMS) Bus Priorty Program for Sydney
Wow who dreamt this up?? It'll be costing an absolute mega fortune! People who saw how much traffic was in the area BEFORE the hospital work started. Something should have been done 10 years ago in this area. How successful has Condamine been in solving traffic issues. The RMS page states 'proposal...

Re: (TfNSW / RMS) Bus Priorty Program for Sydney
The Northern Beaches Hospital Road Connectivity and Network Enhancement Project doesn't fall under this program, but should eventually see an improvement to priority for numerous Forest and STA services (including the 1A). Stage 1 is the upgrade of Frenchs Forest Rd (East & West) . Stage 2 is th...

A couple of New Years Eve sightings .... 1. Metrobus bendy 2100 doing an L90 outbound...couldn't see the actual destination. 2. A Bustech unit going to Palm Beach on an outbound L90....(presumably a Brooky Volvo). Most likely occurance would have been was that the Bustech doing the L90 short runner...

The people living in Belrose, Frenches Forest etc certainly consider themselves as the northern beaches, much to the annoyance of people actually living along the coast. that's a good one. I guess they don't want to be labelled a Westie. east of the North Shore railway line Anyone from ...

Re: Value capture
If a shopping centre next to Harris Park station had 15,000 free parking spaces that could be used by either residents, shoppers or commuters would they have to pay a parking space levy or would the NSW government have to pay the shopping centre for the use of the free parking? If Parramatta is to ...

Happy days if you live over 800m from a railway station and have a quick connection via a non-rail transport mode. The whole point of an integrated transport SYSTEM is that the isolated areas are connected to transport hubs with convenient connections. I can understand the concept being put forward ...

It was state members who's role it is to represent on such matters. No declarations that PT or bus priority are 'an eyesore' like windfarms from Tone to my knowledge.

Even faster for the E90 and for palm beach dump spit junction and neutral bay and run them express to the City via the Wakehurst Pkwy and via Roseville similar to Forest except no stops at Roseville rather than Military and Spit Road. Yeah, diverting the E90 via wakehurst parkway and simliar route ...

Re: STA Mercedes-Benz 'Mark V' Farewell Tour
Thanks to the organisers and drivers for an excellent day out, it was good to catch up with so many people. Thanks too to STA for letting us celebrate the career of what was the last of the 'standard' 43 seat single deckers, a style of bus which has served Sydney well for over 60 years.

Re: Northern Beaches BRT: B-Line to transform Northern Beach
Brookvale's artics are used on routes which have catchment areas away from the main corridor which the B-Line will follow and they operate all stops services outside of the peaks which follow the 'old' corridor through Balgowlah shops, which is a growth area. The B-Line fleet will not have the capac...

Re: Bus lanes on the Harbour Bridge
Lanes 1-6 are relatively narrow and one can't be widened at the cost of the others, whereas lane 7 is quite wide (railway loading gauge to be precise). The large number of railway stanchions beside lane 1 at bus mirror height preclude it's use as a bus lane. There are also a large number of vehicles...

There were reports that the school student Opal cards were going to restrict school travel to services applicable for each child's travel. These changes may be required to allow the allocation of routes to passes.
