Has anyone looked far into the future regarding this decision?
There is only a finite amount of room on a number plate. What will happen when CVL numbers exceed 9999.
The plate will look really cramped when CVL 10000 is reached

Re: The Next Station is...Elizabeth Quay
Sorry about that.
I quickly threw the list together to make the point that in what is generally known as Perth there are over a dozen 'cities' which means putting up 'City' on the desto is meaningless.

Going back to the photos at the start of this thread, showing bus no 2377 next to stop no 27377, was the numbering intentional or just coincidental?

Re: Leyland Lion DP76 in 1969
No one got to keep their old all numeric plates. That's why I said history thrown in the bin. Now your friend's 1954 car is not authentic in all historic aspects as it has lost its original number plate to some bureaucratic decision made in 1968. All other states gradually moved to reflector plates ...

Re: Leyland Lion DP76 in 1969
Slightly going off topic. If you had a vehicle in those days sporting white on black plates, you had to front up at a depot in Hay St east, take off your old plates and attach your shiny new black on white "reflector" plates. That was after forking out the sum of $1.50. This took place ove...

Re: PTA / Transperth observations - March 2015
The 25 year old Renault 1015 would be coming to the end of its service life anyway, so would not expect to see it being repaired.
As 1632 is only 9 years old, it would depend on the extent of the damage it suffered which would determine if it will be repaired and returned to revenue service.

Re: WAGR Guy G63 in 1969
My post above was purely my recollections. Tom did go broke sometime in the 70s, and that was the end of his retailing venture. There were several other supermarkets in the 6os. Freecorns, Gordon Mathiesons, Foodland, and Charlie Carters amongst them. These smaller ones ended up being rolled into th...

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Great to see those MTT operated buses and the business names of the period such as Boans and Aherns. I even spotted a pram hanging on a set of pram hooks on the back of one of the buses.

I love all these photos you are posting Roderick. Brings back memories for me. On seeing the tank stand in your photo, I do remember Tom's fondly. Belonged to Tom Wardle who later became Lord Mayor of Perth. Tom's was a general merchandise, electrical/electronic store who used to import items from T...

I remember seeing those plates on some trucks and some buses when I was at school in the late 50's & early 60's.
Never knew what they were for.
Waiting for more information to come forward too.

Re: TELEVISION CHANNEL UPDATES
People should have anticipated this frequency change anyway; the Government ran a series of ads in April-May advertising the change in frequencies and reminding people to re-tune their free-to-air TV channels. Just be mindful that not everyone is even mildly technical, so the ads probably would hav...
