Re: Bus Observations 2024
Timeframe likely to have been a major consideration. Had Transit Systems been able to commission the 50 Custom Denning Elements it has in store that would have largely provided the necessary number of buses, that presumably is not likely to happen requiring a plan B. TfNSW is stating that it has no...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
I doubt that any manufacturer here would be able to go through all the ordering red tape here to even start manufacturing within 6 months months, let alone complete 60 within that time frame. Just another slow and laziness from Transport for NSW, Transit Systems and the Government. They knew this w...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
I did vaguely remember reading that ACT Yutongs were made in China but fitted by Custom Denning, that might be in play here. But overall, Labour ain’t doing themselves good here by not having these buses made in NSW, surely even if you split the order with Custom and Express Bus Builder it’s still b...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Withdrawn while repairs take place but not forever, lots of buses has been in accidents and come back to life. Wouldn't Custom Bus just tell Transit Systems and U-GO we can do a retrofit a Endeavour front to these buses as we haven't manufactured the CB60 since 2011 Not necessarily the case, depend...

Re: Bus Observations 2024
Doesn’t Port Stephens Coaches sometimes send their deckers on rail? Still counts if it’s going into Sydney? Possibly, but have never seen it. ...if U-Go can do it and Transit Systems with there bendy buses, CDC, Busways and Transdev should all pitch in to help move people during rail replacement. B...

U-Go Mobility has its Bustech CDis out on Wynyard - North Sydney rail replacement services today. First time I can recall a current generation double decker on such a service in Sydney. Re: Bus Observations 2024
You mean Transit Systems, Bankstown Airport Depot was transferred to Transit Systems. Revesby was transferred to U-Go. Bankstown Airport is closer to the Transdev Holding yard. My bad, Bankstown Airport depot had always been part of region 13 being acquired with Transit First However given most of ...

Re: State Transit / Transit Systems Ansair Orana Retirement
Meanwhile Busways 3693 lives on, turns 28 this month. It appears that the Oranas are destined to live well beyond their 26th birthdays. I gather that this is due to the current situation with the electric bus rollout. Particularly given they are oft criticised for poor build quality and other issue...

I wouldn’t go that far, they still can’t their Elements 2 running in Sydney, Canberra or Hobart. No Bambam. The yard Linto is talking about is a new and separate yard down by the golf course where all the excess, but still TD owned, buses have been stored for some months. There was a suggestion they were being retained so TD could bid for Bankstown rail replacement. However given most of them a...

Re: Rail Observations 2024

Re: Rail Observations 2024
That's probably why things went pear shaped quite often. And no doubt because of sectorisation. In a perfect world, crews should be restricted to their sector, rather than trying to spread them too thinly across the whole network, which at the end of the day is a cost saving measure. If Sydney Trai...

Re: Rail Observations 2024
What is T4NSW and/or Sydney Trains doing wrong that prevents recovery, even partial recovery, after seven hours? Running too many trains. There comes a point when the delays are so high because of crew displacement that the only way to recover is to scrap the timetable and run shuttle services with...
