Re: Rail Observations 2024
ATP is already in operation throughout the whole suburban network except Erskinville to Bondi Junction (Illawarra Relief). The fact is this set of crossover was not ATP fitted hence it was able to travel at 100kph when the crossover is restricted to 25kph. Why some crossover are ATP controlled and o...

https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/sydney-passenger-train-speeds-at-four-times-the-limit-risking-derailment-20240425-p5fmn7.html ATP would have avoided this outcome , but although the ATP trackside infrastructure on the network has been completed, the upgrade to the train fleet is way behind sched...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
So the Transdev holding yard at Bankstown Airport, just a few hundred meters down the road from their former (now Transit Systems) depot on Tower Road, has thinned out massively in the last few days. The buses being stabled there have been declining steadily over the last month, but when I drove pa...

Re: Canberra light rail: Development applications approved in 'b
Not sure on Canberra Population, but one thing I can assure once the Light Rail is up and running, people would use it over buses. I also don't see Canberra making buses, haven't we've learnt from past experiences in Tasmania with Bustech, NSW and Volgren at Tomago and even Custom Denning in NSW. Un...

Tangara set T42, known for its derailment in 2021 at Kembla Grange had 3 Cars transferred from Mortdale Maintenance Center to Auburn Maintrain with locos at the front and end. It will be joined up for normal 4 car block and return to service in the future.

Re: Timetable Changes 2024,
I noticed that some of the route changes mentioned a ‘staff shortage’ as one of the reasons for route changes. I wonder if when there are enough drivers for R14, will there be adjustments again? Will be curious to see whether being explicitly noted as due to a 'driver shortage' makes a difference. ...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Were there enough drivers today covering normal route services school bus services and services to the Royal Easter Show. There probably wasn’t hence we saw Kinetic, Icharter and other Charter bus companies help filling in gaps. I’m surprised you only mentioned today when Easter show started on the...

Re: ex-State Transit Vehicle Transmissions
It seems strange that at the end of a large order of B8 ZFs, they go and throw a few random Voith ones in there, and not even in consecutive order. Given that was the end of diesel purchases for STA, there was probably nothing to be gained by throwing random odd-bods in there. How good is your info...

Re: Bus Observations 2024
Timeframe likely to have been a major consideration. Had Transit Systems been able to commission the 50 Custom Denning Elements it has in store that would have largely provided the necessary number of buses, that presumably is not likely to happen requiring a plan B. TfNSW is stating that it has no...

I doubt that any manufacturer here would be able to go through all the ordering red tape here to even start manufacturing within 6 months months, let alone complete 60 within that time frame. Just another slow and laziness from Transport for NSW, Transit Systems and the Government. They knew this w...

I did vaguely remember reading that ACT Yutongs were made in China but fitted by Custom Denning, that might be in play here. But overall, Labour ain’t doing themselves good here by not having these buses made in NSW, surely even if you split the order with Custom and Express Bus Builder it’s still b...

Withdrawn while repairs take place but not forever, lots of buses has been in accidents and come back to life. Wouldn't Custom Bus just tell Transit Systems and U-GO we can do a retrofit a Endeavour front to these buses as we haven't manufactured the CB60 since 2011 Not necessarily the case, depend...

You mean Transit Systems, Bankstown Airport Depot was transferred to Transit Systems. Revesby was transferred to U-Go. Bankstown Airport is closer to the Transdev Holding yard. Meanwhile Busways 3693 lives on, turns 28 this month. It appears that the Oranas are destined to live well beyond their 26th birthdays. I gather that this is due to the current situation with the electric bus rollout. Particularly given they are oft criticised for poor build quality and other issue...
