Re: Flinders line patronage up
If I've read my history correctly, the Tonsley line was only really built as a siding to serve the then newly built Chrysler (later Mitsubishi) factory, with passenger service being provided for Chrysler staff, and for nearby residents that could utilise the (peak hour) return service. This may go s...

Re: New upgraded bus timetables
That depends. If the service is infrequent, I'd rather an actual timetable rather than being told the bus runs every two hours.

Sadly the Metrocard system only requires passengers to touch on; so the detailed travel pattern data available from a tap on/touch off system is not available.

32 (via 167 or 168?) originally finished at Novar Gardens, near corner of Pine Av and Bonython Av. Through-routed with route 16 to Glen Osmond. First routes with full-time one man operation. 32 extended to Glenelg (still as route 32) in early 1970s. 32 to Novar Gardens via Marion Rd and Mooringe Av...

Re: Pay no more than 2 zones
The desire is obviously to reduce the fare costs for those travelling extended distances. Fair enough. One disadvantage with a zonal fare structure is where there is a hard zone boundary, it can cost an extraordinary amount of money to travel short distances, providing that the travel is over a zone...

Re: January 2021 timetable changes
Seems unusual to have timetables starting on a Wednesday; but in saying that it seems silly to have a special lot of shifts for one school holiday day.

Re: HISTORY of ADELAIDE - BUS, TRAIN & TRAM ROUTES
I seem to have a recollection of a route that travelled from Aberfoyle Hub and did a loop of Oakridge Rd and Homestead Dr before returning to Aberfoyle Hub during the 69x days - although the route number escapes me right now.

Re: January 2021 timetable changes
Problem with tweaking the times for the 600/601 to coincide with trains at Flinders may mean a loss of connectivity to trains at Blackwood. I think that train connection may be slightly more important than one at Flinders.

Bus Preservation Association of South Australia Inc upcoming activities
The Bus Preservation Association of South Australia was formed in 2019 by a group of bus enthusiasts – all of whom owned retired buses from SA. Noting a high level of interest in their restored buses from the public, they decided that they could achieve more by forming an official group. With over t...

As the creator of these threads, I would like to apologise if it has distracted from the intent of the Lunch Room. I really like discussing on this forum (that’s not including the trivia and word games), so if it has been a distraction (and to be fair I think it has), I am ok for them to be removed...

Never been too sure on that but if that's happening that's good, all I know is members on here have told me you just get what ever bus you are given and yet a few years ago I used to know this bus driver that would always try and get the old diesel manual buses when starting his shift so I don't kn...

Re: Adelaide Bus Run Numbers
The small signs you find in the windscreens were traditionally Run numbers when the buses were Government run. Torrens Transit display the shift number; which consists of four digits. The first digit indicates the depot, the second digit indicates the shift type and the last two digits are a number;...

September is here, the weather should start to warm up soon. Normally I'd make mention of the Royal Show, and its extra services, which would have started this Friday, the 4th. However restrictions imposed this year caused by COVID-19 have cancelled the show for this year. The Royal Agricultural and...

Re: Tap and Pay on Trams
Looking at the description on the Adelaide Metro website, it appears to be a separate validator to the current ones, and does not accept Metrocards.
