One benefit of this rejection is that Transdev won't be locked into an extension of its contract which was probably the main reason they put forward this proposal. Well, it's now (pretty much) official: $1.6 billion elevated rail project to replace level crossings on Dandenong line The elevated railway line will also free up an extra 225 square kilometres - equivalent to 11 MCGs - of public open space. The reference to an extra 225 square kilometres was remov...

Re: CCTV in public transport vehicles
You will find that CCTV is common, if not compulsory, on all route service buses. In Sydney, at least, it has helped identify suspects in on board incidents, and close by external events. There was an incident at Dandenong in December 2014 where CCTV footage caught two passengers attacking a driver...

The story of Veolia and Transdev is a complex one, from an ownership point of view. My understanding is that Transdev's parent company, Veolia Transdev is currently 50% owned by the French Government, and 50% owned by a large French banking alliance. Hence, all revenues and profits earned by Transd...

In that respect what is the fare arrangement in Melbourne? In Sydney now all fares go to the Government who then pays the operator for operating the service. In such circumstances fare evasion would have less impact on the operator. Same in Melbourne. There may be some factoring in of relative fare...

There are four AM and PM trips, the same as the previous timetable. Presumably Transdev will be acquiring additional vehicles, particularly as some MkIIs have being scrapped.
