Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore
Wow, these Northern Beaches bus changes have really culled the use of bendy buses in this region, for what was once bendy bus heartland. Unless that was the purpose of these changes. On a weekday during the peak hour, there’s now only a very small handful to be seen on a few X routes, and on the we...

Re: STA Observations 2021
On anytrip, I notice a couple of artics on 114. Is this new route to Balmoral getting very popular? Balmoral Beach gets pretty busy during summer. Bus services were chronically overcrowded at times, particularly given that the 245 and 257 were not always evenly spaced, so wait times could blow out ...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7
It really is quite disappointing to see such pointless routes the 515 and 518 have become and what the 517 will be. Similar to what's happened recently to the 177 between Dee Why and Warringah Mall for example, the routes are just too short and a waste of resources to run them. I’m not quite sure w...

So while the combo design has drawbacks in terms of dwell time and ease of movement for mobility-impaired passengers, it is very clear they offer benefits when large numbers of passengers are travelling a greater distance. The Canberra combos, which have no centre door and a double-leaf rear door (...

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
Route 448 was originally proposed to operate hourly but feedback from consultation resulted in weekday off-peak operating a 30 min frequency instead. Clearly the PTA have been waiting for sufficient time to see whether the 30 min freq could be justified or not. Clearly not.

Re: List of Perth Bus Routes by Contractor
522 and 583 are two others that no longer exist, but that's all I could find other than what's already been mentioned. Whilst researching for my timetable project, I noticed that Route 522 silently dropped off Bus Timetable 120 on 13/9/20. . There appears to have been no mention of this on the web ...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020
Route 950 is contractually mandated to operate articulated buses on selected trips. As far as I'm aware, this currently extends to the majority of full length trips on weekdays. All other routes (and non-mandated artic 950 trips) that articulated buses appear on is up to the operator's discretion. T...

Re: List of Perth Bus Routes by Contractor
I doubt busdriver12 has the updated list that shows the current operator for Joondalup. Is that really a necessary contribution to this discussion? I have, however, compiled my own current list using one of busdriver12 's older versions of the route/contract index as a base, which can be viewed her...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020
From the look of things, it would appear that Midis will no longer be in production. Even SR stopped accepting Midis after losing 3 of them in accidents. Standard length buses also took over CAT operations in Joondalup and Midland. That would purely be speculation. As Squiddy mentions, the current ...

Re: Bus Routes - What would you do if you were in charge?
With the project nearing completion in the second half of next year, I'd expect community consultation to begin on the proposed network very soon. There are already some elements of the network that are almost a given and have been published in small snippets across a range of planning documents (na...

Re: Full Low Floor vs. Low entrance buses
Full low floor buses are mechanically more complicated then the commonly used (in Australia, at least) low entrance buses - they are also more expensive to purchase and maintain, with some of their expensive parts quite close to the ground. Full low floor buses would not be able to operate in some ...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020
The B8RLEA is legally licensed, as per most other artics like the B12BLEA, to hold max 110 pax. Of course physically, they can hold more, but in terms of safe operation, that's the cap. And that 'safe' limit of 110 pax is determined not just by physical space itself but also by how it is calculated...

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2020
The Red CAT hasn't been permanently axed, only temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 situation, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to spend money on re-branding if the service was to be reinstated in the near future. It could well come back depending on whether the factors that have justified it...

Re: VOLVO’S FIRST ELECTRIC BUSES IN AUSTRALIA DUE MID-2021
There's very limited turnaround time on the Joondalup CAT. In fact looking at the latest timetable, looks like they've increased the run time, so now there is basically only one minute between trips. No time for opportunity charging! Drivers/buses change over during the day even with diesel buses as...

The patronage claims for Region 6 has since been corrected. It was actually a 9.5 per cent increase... Those figures were only for trips taken after the privatisation of Bus Contract 6 ...

Yes just to clarify with 1440, it was originally delivered with the half-Perspex screen (back when the cages were not quite mandatory on everything yet).
