Re: 2023 SA Transport observations

You also need to factor in the power that modern air conditioners require which reduces the available horsepower. Buses accelerate significantly slower on warmer days when the air conditioner is operating at moderate or full power. There's also the issue with needing to have acceptable acceleration ...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

"See and be seen". Vehicles with lights on are more visible than those without. I dunno, if a driver/rider/pedestrian doesn't see a great big whopping bus coming in broad daylight heading for them then I think they have issue regardless of whether the lights are on or off :? By that logic...

Feels like missed opportunity - Not all service areas have been equipped for the permanent change to Sunday trading hours. I realise not all shops do trade from 9am; but the fact that they can should have warranted a review of available services to or from shopping locations to allow workers and sh...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

With lots of applicants in recent times, it may well have been an oversight by them. It wouldn't hurt to follow up with a courtesy call to say you've done your medical and ask what the next step is.

There's one turning from Woodville Rd to Torrens Rd and another turning from Cross Rd to Marion Rd. There may be a couple of others around.

Re: [Apr-Jun 2022] SA Transport observations

Most Circle Line bus stops on Regency Rd have been changed to the new style bus stops seen elsewhere in Adelaide. Portrush Rd will probably get the new style soon too.

A part of Adelaide's transport history which soon enough will no longer be seen.

70 mins... and to think that the oBahn was designed with buses that had towbar attachments to push or pull disabled vehicles, and had Dumbo also available to retrieve. Very sad that what was once a well thought out operation has been let lapse to such a state. 5 mins for the driver to try to rectif...

Is that one meant to be 506? Bus 560 doesn't exist, and 2560 is a Busways bus.

Re: January 2022 timetable changes

It's not often the Seaford trains get above 90km/h apart from the outer end of the line and through the Adelaide Parklands (unless running express - but even then speeds are dictated by curves and level crossings). But yes - hopefully there will be some speed improvements, but probably unlikely unti...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

The bumpy seat backs also aren’t good for resting one’s knees on I agree with this too. If I'm wearing jeans or something it's not as bad but if I'm wearing shorts I end up with the pattern imprinted onto my knees. It's just not comfortable, and with every bump and shake on the road, the 'bumps' in...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

As a tall person (192cm), I feel like there is less leg room between seats on the Bustechs. It's impossible for me to sit straight with my legs straight in front of me. I basically need to sit in the centre of a double seat, and have one knee going each way. While the other features of these buses s...

Re: Seaford train air con turns off at lonsdale

There's a neutral part of overhead line at that location which is a normal part of any electric railway system to help with section isolation (or something like that). While the train passes over that neutral section in only a fraction of a second, as boronia said, the aircon restarts itself and tak...

Re: Tap and Pay for buses

While it's a tricky predicament, if it becomes publicly known that drivers will no longer enforce fares, then basically it just becomes a free-for-all. There are so few inspectors & security (apart from evening train services) that there is a very remote chance that users would ever get caught. ...

SouthLink now using the Torrens Transit format for their destination signs, at least on the photo above, maybe not on every bus though.
