Re: Volgren Discussion / Observations
I had the same thought. But AFAIK, none of CDC Victoria's Optimus buses have that taillight set up and I would say easily 75% of their fleet pre-Optimus have those Hella/Narva light units. VUA = United Arab Emirates (From a very brief partnership with Hafilat in 2008. There were some CR228Ls made fr...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - 2020
I'll be intrigued to see the outcome of that ACCC submission. I know the ACCC is/was investigating Qantas because of how bought a percentage of corporate ownership of Alliance. The ACCC has the opinion that it will reduce competition because Qantas already has Qantaslink and it's huge regional footp...

It's been a while since I've posted any update here. I shelved the Express for a little bit as it was giving me the absolute sh*ts but here's where I got to in the end. https://scontent.fmel5-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/91767742_10218306167660314_5127432043587698688_o.jpg?_nc_cat=109&_nc_sid=b9115d&_nc...

Great photos.
It's good to see the ex-McHarry's CR221L is still getting around. I'd wondered what happened to those buses.
Thanks,
Mitch

I've had a small change of heart in terms of the bus I wanted to recreate. It's a bit "blocky" at the moment but all my blender skills are self taught, so I'm learning as I go. https://live.staticflickr.com/4261/35812267846_f8ba154778_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4257/35465007180_7d98efc131_c...

Blue Skies at Melbourne Airport [29/01/2020]
I've definitely moved across from being a bus gunzel to an avgeek and it'd been a long time since I'd spotted at Melbourne Airport - so I thought I'd take advantage of the gorgeous blue skied afternoon that Melbourne graced us with. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49459268777_2831322de5_c.jpg Qa...

I would suggest that the Mumbai flights would be a relatively successful venture for Qantas. The only direct flights between Australia and India that I know of are the two out of Melbourne and Sydney operated by Air India. Given the continued growth of India as a world powerhouse, it wouldn't surpri...

Two Hours at Sydney Airport [23/11/2019]
Headed up to Sydney for a work trip and booked a late flight home on the Saturday, so I thought I'd do a little bit of plane spotting at the beach. The smoke and overcast conditions made for some interesting backdrops, but I did the best I could do. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49115183557_e2...

Hey all. Quite possibly a long shot but I'm trying to recreate the Volgren CR228L bodywork for OMSI and at the moment I'm pretty much purely going off of photos I've found and a schematic of the Optimus that I've found online as well. Someone wouldn't happen to have the designs for the CR228L bodywo...

Cruise Express in Bell Park [20/07/2019]
Today saw the 104 year old A2-986 steam locomotive pass through Geelong on a tour from Sydney to Melbourne via Geelong and Ballarat. The stop in Geelong also included a trip to Drysdale for a ride on the Drysdale to Queenscliff tour railway. Introduced in 1907, the A2 class steam locomotive served V...

Hugely popular coaches in Europe. I’d love to see the VDL Futura make its way over as well. Would definitely give the likes of Coach Design and Coach Concepts a run for their money on quality. Thanks, Mitch  Nothing wrong with Coach Design or Coach Concepts! I didn’t say there was. The quality...

I'll update my list as well. Why not? In no particular order, not limited to Australia or international: 1. Solaris Urbino. The most recent model, not the ones prior. 2. VDL Futura. Rode one through a lot of Europe and absolutely loved it. 3. Any Express bodied Scania. They're what I grew up on and ...

Re: All new Route buses to be In PTV livery in Melbourne
As far as I'm aware, the reasoning behind it being in the PTV livery is that if the vehicle was funded/leased by the government to the operator so that they can operate routes under their contract, then it has to be in the PTV livery. If the vehicle was self funded by the company itself, then it can...

How much of an increase in loading and unloading times would a double-leaf door have over single-leaf? Like if it was high enough, I could see them justifying it for services that ran in and out of the city which had quite a high patronage throughout the day, but I wouldn't put it as standard across...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that all buses that were funded under contract via PTV are to be in the PTV livery.

IIRC, the Nothern Transit Group (Kastoria, Broady/Nationwide and Seymour) is owned by a different Sita brother and is a different company entirely. So it won’t be affected by the Sita takeover.

Does every platform have a vending machine though? All Melbourne stations have a top up machine within some area of the station boundaries. I wouldn't go so far to say one on every platform though. Rover Coaches Mercedes-Benz OH1830LE CB60 EVO2, was on one of their Benz EVO 2 buses the other day an...
