Re: Newcastle light rail, renewal & integrated transport
Didn’t CAF maintenance do the same to Variobahns on the IWLR? (Overcost/Restrict Variobahn parts to make ordering new Urbos’s more attractive). I wouldn’t be surprised if they were also restricting parts for all Urbos systems to encourage just ordering new trams because it would mean higher margins ...

Yes, that and a few other B12s must waste about 30% of their energy in sound, and 60% in heat.

With TSA’s Region 3 transfers (197x series), there are a mixture. 1972 is Voith and 1973/4 are Zf from memory.

Then you’d end up with a CSELR debacle where timetabling is changed to benefit the many, but the media reports on Mary’s one journey commute to whoop whoop to buy groceries becoming a “nightmare” with 1 interchange with a frequent service.

The $3000 EV rebate by the NSW Government. That 3000 goes straight to Musk’s and Chinese automanufacturers pockets. If you multiply it by the number of private vehicle regos in NSW it’s some stupid amount in the billions. Then there’s that EV driver not paying fuel excise while damaging the road exp...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
The real time position updates as a tram arrives at a stop except from Hay Street to Central where it’s approximations. I’d guess it’s because the street section works on Line of Sight compared to the railway section which uses signals. The only information you get is journey number. I’m honestly mo...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
I’m guessing it’s because of starting signals usually being placed after a platform? It really shouldn’t be a problem otherwise because the train still occupies the track circuit and you could just create a new bell code to ring the guard (not like they’d be sticking their head out with PSDs anyways...

My local Aldi didn’t have self serve checkouts until last year. Their cashiers were stupendously quick so no clue why they thought they needed the change.
