Uber etc is also probably eating into patronage, it certainly does in other cities. Anecdotally I know people without cars who used to use Transperth but now prefer Uber.

What's the loading been like on the train services? Transperth tweeted this afternoon they're having trouble keeping to the timetable.

Why are they at Thornlie though?

It was dark, but I'm pretty sure I saw at least 10 cars stowed at Thornlie station last night.

Any ideas why the change at Carlisle and the reduction to 2tph? Will they just be running a single track through the work area, and I guess down to Cannington which is the closest crossover?

Have any A series sets been transferred from Joondalup/Mandurah to the old lines? I've noticed that one afternoon Fremantle line service I catch has gone from 2 car to 4 car recently.

The deviation track is definitely now in use.

Midland line has moved back to platform 9 for the show, with Showgrounds express (3-car B set) terminating at platform 8, reversing at the siding and then leaving from platform 6 express back to Showgrounds. This must be the largest amount of special services Transperth Trains runs for any event.

What's the reason the B-Series trains aren't used much on the Fremantle/Midland/Armadale/Thornlie lines? I recall it being something to do with braking/acceleration but my friends and I couldn't work out why that meant they weren't suited for those lines.

One interesting fact in the documents is the numbering system for the new B series train sets:

Note that the numbering for the 22 new train sets will have four digits, with car numbers for the 22 sets ranging from 4095-6095-5095 to 4116-6116-5116.

This thread on SSC (via failpage) has the current plans for Perth station - on the next page someone's graphically explained them.

There's a new post at Transport Textbook on exactly this.

I guess if a stop regularly has people waiting it gets a timetable board, whereas if it's mostly used by people getting off the bus, it's just a sign. So routes that are mostly used for peak travel will only have timetables on the to direction.
