What became of the occupants of the Laredo?
They had left it there after stealing it then getting it stuck on the tracks, so there was nobody in it.

What's with the 9:10pm services from Perth station tonight? Are they for the wildcats game? They're not listed on https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Journe ... lets-71096

Re: News Article: Patronage at Lowest in Six Years

I think they've cut back on extra railcars recently - one peak service I normally catch on the Armadale line has gone from 4 to 2 cars, after it was increased to 4 cars when the last of the A sets came from the Mandurah/Joondalup line a few years ago. I can still get a seat though. Traffic however w...

Uber etc is also probably eating into patronage, it certainly does in other cities. Anecdotally I know people without cars who used to use Transperth but now prefer Uber.

What's the loading been like on the train services? Transperth tweeted this afternoon they're having trouble keeping to the timetable.

Any ideas why the change at Carlisle and the reduction to 2tph? Will they just be running a single track through the work area, and I guess down to Cannington which is the closest crossover?

The 210/1/2 connection to 930 causes problems with the Journey Planner and Google Maps - both refuse to consider the connection because it's only scheduled for 1 minute. So they punt to the next 930, up to 15 minutes later. Also, according to the InfoLine, whether or not the same bus will continue o...

In regards to the Mandurah Line, various improvements have been made, including the extension of the 15 min frequency until 9pm Monday to Saturday, and trains running every 10 mins or less for a fair whack of the day. Sunday services are not much different from present. These train service improvem...

Have any A series sets been transferred from Joondalup/Mandurah to the old lines? I've noticed that one afternoon Fremantle line service I catch has gone from 2 car to 4 car recently.

Re: Transperth Train happenings

Midland line has moved back to platform 9 for the show, with Showgrounds express (3-car B set) terminating at platform 8, reversing at the siding and then leaving from platform 6 express back to Showgrounds. This must be the largest amount of special services Transperth Trains runs for any event.

I'm a fan, it means I can sleep in a little bit and still get a park at my local station rather than it filling up by 7:20am. I saw a guy going around giving tickets this week, the licence plate reader appears to be an iPhone.

Re: WA Transport Questions thread

What's the reason the B-Series trains aren't used much on the Fremantle/Midland/Armadale/Thornlie lines? I recall it being something to do with braking/acceleration but my friends and I couldn't work out why that meant they weren't suited for those lines.

One interesting fact in the documents is the numbering system for the new B series train sets:
Note that the numbering for the 22 new train sets will have four digits, with car numbers for the 22 sets ranging from 4095-6095-5095 to 4116-6116-5116.

Re: Transperth and the location of timetable boards

I guess if a stop regularly has people waiting it gets a timetable board, whereas if it's mostly used by people getting off the bus, it's just a sign. So routes that are mostly used for peak travel will only have timetables on the to direction.
