Re: What It Was Like
Actually the VK41's plodded on with factory air over hydraulic brakes, although in true pedestrian fashion they did the job. As for the leaf spring suspension, each Centre tour/express unit carried a spare front/rear main/wrap leaf pair, and every driver was versed on how to do the job! Here's an ex...

What It Was Like
Here's a vivid reminder of the conditions facing operators and tourists alike back in the 1950s and 1960s, as we observe a Redline tour coach in western Queensland on its way to Central Australia. This was the then near new Denning VK41, fleet No 51. Pretty much the entirety of the 1960s saw Austral...

Vale Col Arnold
Sad to report the passing of Col Arnold, one of Australia's national coach tour and transport industry's early on-board entertainment/communication innovators. Aged in his mid-80s, he passed away earlier this week of natural causes, after a short hospitalisation. He was a larger than life gregarious...

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
No 24, the very first air conditioned Denning coach.
Note Denning's first full width rear upper air chute which was complementary to the a/c installation.
Unsuccessful, however that's a longer story.....
Note also, the first ever installation of individual Admac reclining seats.

Hey Centralian
You can walk into virtually any substantive bricks and mortar bookstore and order a copy....
It shouldn't take long for them to get it in, while the price will depend on the store I guess.

Hi aussieneil,
Nice photos, and I'm wondering how the wood frame has held up over the years.
I can confirm it was never with Redline.

Maybe you should go to the top of the board index, where you will find a category "New Users/Ask a Simple Question" where you can ask your question and be pretty sure of getting a helpful answer. Hope this helps....
