Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020

Well Said Merc1107 and ABS However you have to remember that Toowong does still have 40 Diesel MAN 18.310s which are being used outside of peak hours on the 'frontline' with the B8s, which as you mentioned comes down to higher running costs of the Gas buses. It will be sad to see them go, however th...

Re: Rail & Private Operator Observations 2019/2020

This morning I noticed Sunstate Charters #53 around Ashgrove, still in the NSW TrainLink livery, but with TrainLink Logos removed, and in place sunstate logos. This route/service in Ashgrove is always run by #16. I am just wondering if anyone can confirm if this bus has moved depots or Sunstate is t...

Re: Parramatta Light Rail

Hi! I’ve just got a couple of questions regarding the parramatta Light Rail since it’s quite foreign to me!! 1. Why have we returned to Urbos 3 Veicles rather than the newer Alstom Citadis 305s for the CBD and South East light rail 2. Are stage 1 and stage 2 seperate lines?? L4 and L5? Thanks in adv...

Re: VOLVO’S FIRST ELECTRIC BUSES IN AUSTRALIA DUE MID-2021

A bit of topic for WA but still an interesting point... We are also supposed to be getting some of these in Brisbane in 2022. It was established by BT that we were getting them well before WA/Perth but we havnt heard anything since. We were supposed to get 4, for the free downtown loops (Routes 40 a...

QLD Electric Buses Discussion

Since There has been alot of hype recently regarding Electric buses, I thourght Id dedicate a topic to it. So far we have: - Surfside trailing 10 bustech EVs next year on the 777. - A labour election promise for Bustech EVs for Clarks Logan. - BT triailing 4 Volvos in 2022 on the downtown loop (Rout...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020

What's the story with the Metro - will its introduction result in a mass withdrawal of buses that previously serviced the busway, or will there be massive service enhancements outside the busway? There will be massive service enhancements. Routes 111, 160 and 66 (the routes mainly serviced by the b...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020

How many more B8s will we see come out of this batch? I just assumed they were stopping after 100 at 2900. I remember reading somewhere last year of council's commitment to X amount of buses introduced each year (equivalent to 60 standard buses?) but I can't recall where or what the figure was. The...

Re: Bustech and Cummins E bus collaboration

In Australia, you only have to provide the body to win contracts. There are no requirements/thresholds whatsoever re quality and passenger comfort. The Adelaide versions are shocking, and very primative as well. How are the Adelaide ones primitive? It seems to me that Admet had some minimum standar...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020

Around 2.00pm confirmed on Anytrip, I saw W5090 (Volvo B12BLE) on a 100 service heading to Forest Lake. This is an extremely rare occurrence of a high capacity vehicle running on a 100. Normally 100 is a CNG bus route and is full of rigids (MAN 18.310s). As you have been told before, there are vari...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020

According to AnyTrip, 5040 is on a 3.04-3.40pm 132 service. Why would Willawong run that high capacity vehicle on such a low or a medium frequency route??? The answer could be that they don’t won’t gas buses out and they had a spare Tag Axle around. W have been doing some funny things with their Ta...
