Re: STA Observations February 2015

Sup sign is standard "PREPAY ONLY" sign, so technically not appropriate for a 380, but it generally lives in the windscreen and I forget it's there... 3291 will pull around 90-95. Some of the Randwick MANs with different diffs would pull well over 100! Fuel consumption is generally around ...

1598 was the first STA livery bus to receive Hop logos several months ago.
At the time I was told that all buses would be re-branded within 12 months. So you will be seeing a lot more in the near future.

1598 was the first "old" bus to be re-stickered, both with the new hop logo and also most internal information decals have been re-done too. And has been this was for almost a month now.

Re: STA Observations - September 2014

Sometimes if a depot can't cove a run or shift portion with their own staff (due to sickness etc) they will call a neighbouring depot to see if they can cover the work instead. I've seen this happen several times between Tempe and Kingsgrove. I once operated some 461s as a Tempe driver, in a Tempe b...

Mark V/3119's MkV 3119, future "Pumpkin Bus"
And TAA727's MAN 3291 and MkII 2496 (Yes they're both mine! :) )
Was a fun day out and as 3119 says, a great pic!

The Luminator destos in Scania L113s are not programmed with metrobus destos due to their limited memory capacity.
Well certainly this is the case at Tempe depot, I assume other depots with Luminator destos have the same issue.

Re: STA Observations - June 2014

And that step down at the middle door would appear to be dangerous after all of the years of a level floor at that point. The VSTs have been in service at Tempe for 7-8 months now and I'm not aware of a single incident or passenger complaint relating to the step at the rear door. I'd say they are p...

I thought the mounts that went into everything last year was the Wayfarer (the one with the lock on it) or is there yet another one? Is that not exactly what I just said??? The console mount is now that for the wayfarer machine but with a easily removed "adaptor" fitted to allow fitting o...

Which leads me to ask this question: why are they still being fitted with Datafare consoles? Why not factory fit them with the Wayfarer + Opal reader + perhaps green machines? I don't believe that drivers from depots with the exception of Waverley have been trained on Opal. Would sending some new b...

I have just noticed that on m/o1574, it is sporting an accreditation label which states that it is accredited to all STA depots, not just Brookvale. Accredited to all depots? Or just missing the specific depot name? (This frequently happens with depot transfers - the old depot name is removed, but ...

William751 if you read the posts above you will see that this indicator board still exists, fully restored, in the Powerhouse Museum Sydney. Sounds like the Sheddie at M goofed by having it out, as at Tempe 2036 and 2115 were ebs'd to return after morning peak and then stopped awaiting the swap.

Re: STA Observations - May 2014

Not sure what the reason for the change over was, but it certainly wasn't done directly with a T driver. 2585 was brought to Tempe by either a mechanic or shed driver from Willoughby along with another driver as passenger and both 2036 and 2115 were taken directly from Tempe yard to Willoughby.
