Re: Possible bus diversions
My suggestion is based on joining the service between the morning and afternoon peak hours. An bourly bus service would be sufficient during off peak hours. Before it was disbanded a number of years ago it ran an hourly service with route 6 to Earlwood. At present there is a bus service between Roc...

Re: Ferry Observations 2024
Was in Parramatta today, and thought I'd catch the ferry back to the city. The wharf is closed for repairs, but the shuttle bus to Rydalmere is operating. At around 13:30, I was the only passenger on the bus. One day before COVID I caught the first weekday boat from Parramatta and the crew told me:...

Re: Boarding protocols
Every now and then a Hillsbus driver opens the centre door at QVB when the queue has almost reached Market St, and not necessarily in peak hours.
Well, it would have reached Market St if it hadn't wrapped back on itself.

Re: Timetable Changes 2024
Presumably the 525 is being curtailed to release assets, agree the Strathfield - DFO section is the most heavily patronised. When introduced, route 500X was almost exclusively operated by artics. This has been diluted over time. Region 7 artics turn up in funny places, like the 549 through North Ro...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
What was the maximum frequency intended after the upgrade of the Airport line, compared to the line capacity now? It is from 10tph to 18tph with upgrades to the current signalling, which doesn't include further upgrades with the proposed digital signalling. Really? It has trains 3 minutes apart alr...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
I thought the plan was to funnel everything through the Airport tunnels given there will now be extra capacity, and to free up extra space much needed for the T4? Have the Airport tunnel signalling upgrades been delayed? What was the maximum frequency intended after the upgrade of the Airport line,...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
Currently 4 min in peak (15 per hour) and 10 min off peak (6 per hour). Many of the initial boards outside stations under construction touted 3 minutes. I would very much like to see off peak increased to 7.5 mins (8 per hour) of even 6 (10 per hour) since this is now a CBDservice. I think they wer...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
Yes that's correct and they are both in regular timetabled use.
I was referencing their relative location (to the CBD) and purpose rather than design.
Apologies for any confusion.

I can't imagine they would take out the crossovers at Chatswood, particularly for the last reason you mentioned.

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Provided of course they are suitable for such routes (I.e.: height clearances). I presume that routes have to be engineered and approved for double deckers. They can't just run anywhere like single deckers. If extra capacity is needed at short notice, artics are the answer. Routes also have to be c...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
You wouldn't catch it from Castle Hill to the city because it's quicker by metro. Whilst I don't doubt people close to Castle Hill Station will take the Metro, the bus is not as slow as you may think. The off peak 610X running time from Castle Hill Station to Wynyard is 34 minutes. From Baulkham Hi...

Re: Parramatta light rail
I'm told that on Thursday four trams were being tested between Rosehill and Carlingford during the daytime.
